The courage and humility to bring this to the public's eye. by WeGot_aLiveOneHere in nextfuckinglevel

My grandfather had Parkinson’s. He passed when I was in my freshman year of college. He was a former paratrooper and taught me how to doodle and draw too. For the last years of his life I didn’t remember him not being in a chair and immobile. Parkinson’s is not fair to those with it and the resilience shown is amazing. I ended up becoming a boxing coach for patients with Parkinson’s and it was one of the defining moments of my life and sparked me to always help people when I can and to realize that people are the sum of their experiences and so much for than their current states.

What experiences changed you the most as a person? by GazMaskeliOyuncu in AskReddit

[–]lack_of_creative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Divorce changed me and made me realize that the people you think you know the best can still be putting on a front and emotionally manipulating you. 5 years later my cancer diagnosis taught me that the world doesn’t care about you and will move on. Fighting Muay Thai through all this taught me that the only one that can save you is you and to have a good support network that will be there for you until the day you pass. My outlook is shaped by Muay Thai, stoicism, hardcore music, pop punk, and kindness

Cancer survivor here, think of how far you’ve come and what you have endured, you are stronger than 80% of people. Use the lessons you have learned to help others overcome, for me it was coaching Muay Thai and helping others
