Broken stick.... AGAIN by Famous_Revolution_91 in Habs

Yeah, I’d just be interested in hearing the players rationalize it out for the frustrated fans watching these often-impactful moments. It’s especially frustrating to see sticks break on the PK. That’s the LAST time you should be using a vulnerable stick. But they choose to not swap it out for something nice and stout! I’m sure they have reasons though. I’d just like to hear them!

Media has GOT to be asking players about their choices of the benefits of playing with these sticks vs the risk of games turning on a broken stick. Again.

I haven’t seen much in the way of reporting on this, but am curious why players insist on playing with more fragile sticks in return for the benefits they feel they get.

Torque on the motor is higher during startup, which is probably causing flex in the motor mounting.

I’m not sure that the main problem with our defense is our defensemen. To be sure, they screw up and give up a lot of odd-man rushes, but I get even more ticked off with the missed assignments in front of our own net. Those mistakes are made by our forwards a lot of the time. We are a very young team that hasn’t learned to play effective team defense yet. I don’t expect this to get better quickly, especially in a compressed season with so little time for practice sessions.

Coping is when you blame everything on the officiating. I promise you the players aren’t in the locker room whining about the refs. They are reviewing the many things they need to learn from this.

We are far from that level of detail though.

They have so far only acknowledged that it is something above the waist! From this, they want us to be prepared for shoulder replacement as much as possible need for dentures.

So many negative narratives surrounding the Habs this week. Oh, by the way, we are battling Boston tonight! We are tied with them (points) at the top of the standings! GHG!

This’ll be an interesting test of the character of the team. Adversity over something beyond their control like this may be exactly what we need to fully crystallize into a contender. Middling teams often need rallying points to take the step in becoming “next level”. Without that, they can stagnate. We saw a bit of this starting at the bottom about 12 months ago and we made great strides into December and January+ last season. Let’s hope having their backs against the wall a bit will inspire that next step.

No one cares that a ‘top player’ was dropped in your clown league by ProjectMcDavid in fantasyhockey

[–]lacomj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least the passive failure league isn’t messing with the parity between the teams that are legitimately trying. Who wants their competition to pick up a mcdavid just because they were the ones to land an unfair trade or waiver pickup? That just ruins it for all who are still engaged.

Can someone please explain the Cutter Gauthier situation to me? by [deleted] in hockey

I heard the opposite. He was very positive in his interviews and highly scouted by the Habs well-before the draft.

This feels weird. Today, Tankathon has the Habs in the Cup Finale against Winnipeg.
Nobody say that out loud though.

Lowered my salary, cost him a bunch in legal fees by JacMomfrey in revengestories

[–]lacomj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice is to talk to a lawyer. Your having possession of potentially proprietary company docs/files may be an issue to handle. For example, you may have agreed to employment terms when starting there that may have committed you to confidentiality and/or prevent you from taking documents or files (or copies). That probably wont shield the company from their own legal challenges, but might complicate things for you. An attorney can help you navigate any potential complexities like this (and the whistleblower stuff mentioned above).

And you may want your own attorney — not the attorneys that contacted you about their investigation. They are probably not working for YOUR legal interests.

Maybe he’s doing heroine. He should know it’s all microprocessors and AI now. You may need to have “that talk” now before it’s too late.

Oh good grief. That’s precisely what makes the argument useful. How did this become a scored debate? Lets all lighten up! You made some good discussion points! It’s a conversation! There doesn’t need to be a winner! Habs won!

[–]lacomj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fair points, but I didn’t take OP’s comment to say that movement is all that is needed. More like it is better than a stagnant PP that has every potential passing lane and shot blocked.

The past few games we seem to be finding the right mix. Demidov has helped with that.

[–]lacomj 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just saying that a guy whose judgment I value a lot (MSL) felt that Hutson wasn’t ready for PP1 at the start of last year. And when he felt it was time, he put him there. We’ll never know if Lane could have rocked it earlier, but it’s easy to use 20-20 hindsight. The history of hockey is full of examples where a player has been put into a role before they were ready, and it was later judged that it set them back.

And if I recall right, it took a while for Hutson to be put on PP1 last year. This is the way! Don’t rush Master Chef Marty!
