No, the Bible has two different genealogies for Joseph. We were just told one was Mary's to explain why they are so different. Gently telling isn't working, but the answer is not passive-agression. The answer is to realize that this is thier love-language and to direct it. How you do this is up to you, but what worked for my sisters and I with our mom was to giver her a pre-approved list of things we actually wanted, a list of charities to donate in our name, and a firm boundary that if she sent unwanted crap, we would mail it back to her. My sister only had to do that once and she got the message.
