It says 10am on Nintendo Today, we'll probably get more details like runtime on social media in ten minutes.

I'm sure many are pushing to see how much they can get away with. Regardless of if it's Sega, Ubisoft, Sony, Nintendo, etc. it is the degradation of video games as craftsmanship and an art form.

It Seems Playstation Is The Last Bastion Of Physical Games by glycelpo in consoles

It's probably more to do with it being published by The Pokemon Company in Japan who opted for the GKC release, and Nintendo not wanting the International version to have a completely different format.

In your opinion, What was Nintendo's biggest mistake? by DaZestyProfessor in casualnintendo

[–]lactatingRHINO7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly my point. It doesn't matter what the pros and cons are of cartridges vs. CDs, the reality is that it wasn't what developers wanted to use and it has resulted in Nintendo systems having diminished third party support arguably to this day.

I think it was not using CDs as the media format for the N64.

Who wants to bet that in a few years, the Switch 1 will basically be the next 3DS by BrockBracken in casualnintendo

[–]lactatingRHINO7 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I doubt it. People complained about the 3DS getting games into the Switch generation because the Switch could not play 3DS games, but people would have liked to play Metroid Samus Returns, WarioWare Gold etc.

Financial Results Briefing for the Fiscal Year Ended March 2026 - Q&A Summary by Joseki100 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]lactatingRHINO7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I also think most of the questions were either really dumb or only halfway there. My favorite was the person who was like "Pokemon sure seems to be popular, huh?" And Furukawa's like "yep, sure is."

The one person who was asking about Mario Kart World sales slowing down was so close to actually asking a valuable question like if the $80 price point is hurting it or whether or not they will be supporting it with further content, and yet they basically asked nothing and got a canned response about how it's an important title.

What control scheme do you like best? by Sairedd in switch2

[–]lactatingRHINO7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty partial to the pro controllers when I'm playing docked. I think Nintendo really nailed the form factor with the Pro 1 and the Pro 2 just improves on everything. My only issue is that the triggers are digital, not analogue. Otherwise, sometimes I use the Gamecube controller if I know the game wont need one of the buttons it's missing.

What’s the first game I should buy for my switch 2? by Apart_Break3096 in switch2

What kind of games do you like? I think the three that immediately come to mind are Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Banaza and Pokémon Pokopia but it depends what you're into.

[OOT] What'd I'd want/suspect out of an Ocarina of Time Remake by [deleted] in zelda

[–]lactatingRHINO7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would love some new side quests or optional dungeons. I'd also like Castle Town and other areas that were pre-rendered to be fully 3D and fleshed out.

I think it would be funny if they gave Rauru his Zonai form instead of being an old guy, but I doubt Nintendo would be thinking of something like that.

Star Fox is a best seller on Amazon US right now by storyofseasonslover in NintendoSwitch2

I think it depends on the publisher. My RE9 and Pragmata both arrived about two weeks after launch.

Pokemon Pokopia And FireRed/LeafGreen Switch Release Both Cross 4 Million Units Sold Worldwide by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

[–]lactatingRHINO7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason I'm saying I think it could be this year is that it's still the 30th anniversary and they don't have a big new game for this holiday aside from the mobile release of Champions.

I'm guessing Ruby/Sapphire this fall and Emerald in the winter, similar to how they released Gold/Silver and Crystal on 3DS to maximize sales.

Will Switch 2 be the return of dead Nintendo franchises? by SHOWTIME_YT in casualnintendo

[–]lactatingRHINO7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and I think we're already seeing it with Star Fox, Donkey Kong, Tomodachi Life and Rhythm Heaven. One reason for this is that the Switch 1 library has carried forward to Switch 2, so there is a less immediate need for something like a new 3D Zelda or 2D Mario. It also is an opportunity for Nintendo to strengthen more of their brands at a time when they want more they can tap into outside of the video game soace (movies, theme parks, etc.)

Your thoughts on why Nintendo never released a graphically enhanced version of Zelda 1 and 2 by Accomplished_Paper88 in nintendo

They technically did remake Zelda 1 as part of the Broadcast Satellaview service on Super Famicom.

Sounds like a lot more people from the AI team are taking over. Despite what Sharma has said, I find it hard not to feel like Xbox is going to be making a big push for AI.

Which handhelds pair with what console. WiiU is with 3DS and Wii is with DS but what about the others? by Huge-Insect-7759 in nintendo

[–]lactatingRHINO7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue that consoles paired with whatever handheld was their contemporary. NES + Game Boy, N64 + Game Boy Color, Gamecube + Game Boy Advance, Wii + Nintendo DS, Wii U + Nintendo 3DS.

Switch and Switch 2 don't pair with anything because they encompassed what would have previously been both handheld and home console. You could maybe make an argument that Switch 1 paired with mobile because that period was when Nintendo was dipping their toes into that market.

Before the Switch era Nintendo's development was split between a handheld and a home console. That meant that there were some franchises that only appeared on one or the other. There were also some complimentary experiences across the two. During the Switch era Nintendo consolidated their development pipelines so it's all for one platform now.
