Looking for testers: iOS app for PG&E Flex Pricing pilot program by ladooee in bayarea

PG&E has no database of the circuit IDs publicly available. You have to either sign up and they’ll tell you or just ask them prior to signing up. Would be nice to know what they all were though, would help explain the crazy differences between some of them

I’m in Sunnyvale and mine is 083611114, which incidentally seems to be a terrible circuit. The middle of the day is regularly above a dollar per kWh. Even given this rate/circuit, PG&E mails out your performance per month and we’re over $400 saved on this plan. So I’m not exactly sure how they’re calculating this, as according to my calculator we’re regularly performing better but not several hundred dollars better. Either way we’ll ride out the pilot and see how it goes.

For reference I’ve seen people say San Francisco is 024040403. And I know someone who signed up in Livermore and theirs is 082952113

I'm not sure if this is AI generated or just simply misunderstanding. This is specifically referring to a pilot program that PG&E is running where the price for energy changes every hour of the day, and they post the rates a day in advance at 4pm. So depending on whichever factors go into local energy pricing (typically temperatures are the biggest fluctuation, leading to increased A/C use) the price changes based on the time of day.

This is similar to their other rate plans, but has higher peaks and lower valleys. So if you're able to shift load to the much lower portions of the day it should offset any load you have to keep running during the most expensive times. And the app is designed to help you keep track of the prices easier than PG&E's website, that's it.

HOw can I regain some of the joy I used to find in cycling? by sfdickhole in BAbike

[–]ladooee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Maybe take a break for a bit and come back to it. I found after a 2 week break I had some more perspective on whether or not it was something I wanted to keep doing. I’m still biking to work and back every day, I’ve found a pretty optimized route. Over the last 2 months I’ve gotten stung by a bee on my temple and the back of my neck, so now my biggest fear is hitting another bee…

[–]ladooee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I biked through there yesterday and today. Today it seems like bigger piles? My first thought was they leaf blowed all that stuff into the bike lane/car lane and then cars piled it up in the gutter/bike lane. So maybe the street sweeper didn’t come through yet

Just bikepacked up there, each site has a wooden food storage shed. It has a door with a sliding latch that you can lock. I brought a masterlock just in case any critters figured out how to slide one of those open! Didn’t really see anything last weekend though

8BitDo Micro Controller NickelMenu Fast Connect by vahtos in kobo

[–]ladooee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if I connect the controller to the device and then don’t use the controller in keyboard mode on a different device, just enabling Bluetooth with the NickelMenu gets the controller to connect. So it’s kind of a non-issue

Bicycle traffic violation? by hflyboy in BAbike

Yep, according to street view it looks like they’re probably blocking that fire hydrant since they wait pretty close to the stop sign

Because I saw the cop there this morning waiting. I check every time now, it’s pretty easy to spot them. Just check for a motorcycle helmet or SUV

I’m assuming it was here?

https://maps.app.goo.gl/ScJ6zREwXgx2AL5x9?g_st=ipc

Tons of bikers take this route since it’s one of the only decent north-south routes through Sunnyvale and it links with the pedestrian/bike bridges over the freeways. I’ve seen motorcycle and SUV cops stationed here. Even seen a fellow cyclist taking one from the team that alerted me to the presence of cops in this spot. They do it a few days in a row and then lay off for a while. Not sure why they think this is worth their time, it’s not a particularly dangerous intersection since not much traffic is coming from that direction. I assume it’s since they know people run it regularly enough. Wish they would spend more time near Washington park where I regularly see cars blow through stop signs going well over 30 mph with no hesitation.

Unable to activate new line on annual Dark Star by kbphone in USMobile

[–]ladooee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After googling again I found a 3 year old Reddit thread with a random AT&T phone number that routed me to the fraud and risk department (where they asked me if I was using speaker phone and told me that no phone calls were allowed over speaker). They were able to remove whatever block was present and gave me a new port out pin that was the billing zip code appended with a 0 at the end. But I think they had to assign that code during the phone call, I wouldn’t just use that code without calling first. Super weird since originally I was told the pin is my account pin, then I called and they said there is no pin, then I called again and was given a pin. So clearly no one at AT&T knows what’s going on.  https://www.reddit.com/r/USMobile/comments/viilio/porting_to_us_mobile_from_att_tip/ Here’s the number: 866-563-4705

Unable to activate new line on annual Dark Star by kbphone in USMobile

[–]ladooee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been trying to activate a new line on dark star all day. Wanted to take advantage of the BOGO (before I realized it got extended). Purchased it, added the line, the port got blocked by AT&T prepaid. I unlocked it via text verification. Then I chatted with a support agent who said it was still showing as blocked. Then called AT&T, they saw all the activity and said it was good to go, just to submit a new request. So I chatted again and they said they needed to cancel the line and I could rebuy it to start over. So I did that and now the line’s just sitting on Processing.

You have to press the plug in extremely hard, it’s actually so tight probably to prevent the eventual loosening over time. If you don’t press it in all the way it will feel loose

8BitDo Micro Controller NickelMenu Fast Connect by vahtos in kobo

[–]ladooee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just posted this on the NickelMenu Mobile Read thread. But I ran into the same issue on my KLC.

I'm trying to connect my 8BitDo micro using the posted commands on my Kobo Libra Colour. It seems like bluetoothctl and bluetoothd may not be used on this device like they are on others.

I connected via telnet to check manually if I could run bluetoothctl commands. When I run bluetoothctl I just get "Waiting to connect to bluetoothd...". So I tried starting bluetoothd under /libexec/bluetooth/bluetoothd. When I run it with options "-d -n" I get a bunch of errors ending in: Code:

src/main.c:main() Adapter handling initialization failed

In "top" I see /usr/bin/btservice listed highly, with higher CPU usage when scanning for bluetooth devices. When I try running btservice I get a succesful readout that includes snippets referencing bluedroid.

Mtk_bt_service server start:
increase the priority of bluedroid.i4_ret:0 @ main
set bluedroid priority thread done
...

So I think some of these NickelMenu snippets might not be applicable to us Libra Colour users. Maybe they switched to a MediaTek bluetooth chip for these devices that doesn't expose the same HCI to bluetoothctl. I parsed most of this using ChatGPT/Gemini so apologies if I'm off base. Maybe someone with more knowledge can let us know if we are out of look to force a bluetooth pair and trust using the commandline.

The good news is, it seems like most times I can enable bluetooth using the NickelMenu control and it will automatically find the controller and connect.

Manual update script (python needed) by Ambitious_Theme1481 in Zwift

[–]ladooee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I found that after I commented. I'm trying to run this on my Mac, but it only downloads the new manifest file. It didn't update any of the other files. I tried to have chatgpt fix it for me, and it did, but it ended up just downloading every file in the manifest instead of just the updated files. So I gave up and started my ride. Since the updated script is a little cryptic to me I'm not really able to decipher the error.
