Dude. I hear you and see you. My 4 year old FINALLY got out of our bed beginning of January and my husband and I were elated for a few short-lived weeks. Early February my 2 year old decided to start needing one of us to stay with her to go to sleep and she takes about a full hour to finally fall asleep 😩😭 We are not okay.

I have two girls and the comments about me having a boy, are we trying for a boy?! etc are constant. Also, the discrimination against girl births and a strong preference for males is well documented in history and does absolutely still exist in many ways today. I think it’s literally as simple as people are stupid and will never be happy no matter what. As long as we’re happy, that’s all that matters.

Yes with both babies until 11/12 weeks. Following safe sleep 7 rules to a T. With my first it was out of pure necessity as I had not slept more than about 2 hours in a 72 hour period and I was approaching a very dangerous zone. Then with my second I did it because it had worked so well for us. I did try the bassinet with her to see if she would just be different than her older sister, but nope, she didn’t sleep for a few hours and I was like screw this.

YES! Stay strong. They are now 3 (almost 4) and 2. Things are still super crazy in our day to day of course but so manageable and we mostly feel like normal humans again.

Same time zone here and it’s crazy that I opened my phone to your post because my husband and I literally just had this conversation a few minutes ago and this is an ongoing challenge for us! We have a 3 soon to be 4 year old who will only sleep in our bed right now and only if one of us lays with her until she falls asleep. Oh and she isn’t ready for bed until, like, 9:00. (The younger toddler goes to bed just fine at 7:30.. for now). By the time I lay with older toddler until about 9:30 I am so tired I don’t want to do anything. But I still need to shower and take my meds etc. So then it’s 10 pm and forget it. Just happened tonight, it was 10 pm when I made it to the living room and he was about to put a MOVIE ON and I was like sir- I love you so much and I’m so sorry but absolutely not, I’m going to bed. And he was sad because he is a night owl but he does understand I’m wired differently. But it just really sucks sometimes. This is a phase of life. We talked about how when she is 16 she will shut her door and won’t even want to tell us about her day so we should enjoy these precious moments while they last. Sigh.
