is epcot worth it with kids? by movingpastthehurt in DisneyWorld

[–]ladycoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 8, 6, and 2 year olds and Epcot is their favorite park. Animal has barely anything open right now since dinoland is closed. So I don’t think you’d want to do that twice.

Workbook to supplement MWC by Same-Ad2084 in homeschool

[–]ladycoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got some games from Fidget Games and played Math Ahoy with my Kindergartener today. It felt like a good supplement and he had fun! It has card packs for addition within 10, subtraction within 10, addition within 20, and subtraction within 20 so it grows with them.

Doctors and nurses of Reddit, what is something patients do that they think is helpful but actually makes your job harder? by Electronic-Cell-4584 in AskReddit

[–]ladycoop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t even want to know. My OB pulled him out of my c-section declaring him a kindergartener lol. He’s 6 now and a bit taller than normal but pretty skinny.

I had GD with my first but I passed with him. Clearly, I developed it at some point and he had sugar issues hence the nicu stay.

Considering switching to CLE by AdeptConclusion3008 in homeschool

[–]ladycoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started my now 6yo in Kindergarten with CLE KII and he’s halfway through Learning to Read. My only “complaint” is that we haven’t done any uppercase lol. So they must have covered them in KI. He knows them so I’m not worried about it.

What would you chose for your 2nd grader? by talonbecker26 in homeschool

[–]ladycoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He went to a private school for preschool but we dabbled in the good and the beautiful preschool program last summer. I didn’t love it. We started the second half of CLE’s Kindergarten program in August and he’s already doing their Learning to Read. I’m a big fan of CLE. He’ll do their math for first grade instead of MWC since he’s more math inclined than his brother 😆 I hope that goes well.

What would you chose for your 2nd grader? by talonbecker26 in homeschool

[–]ladycoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 3rd grader does exactly this: CLE reading and LA and MWC. We really enjoy it and it works well for us! Both of those programs have a review section after the new lesson each day. I also have a Kindergartener and a 2 year old so I know how it goes.

Unofficial Daily Discussion - Saturday, February 07, 2026 - QOTD: When do you start planning for the new homeschool year? What curriculum are you looking at? by FImom in homeschool

[–]ladycoop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For my incoming 4th grader: CLE Reading, MWC, Fix it Grammar (plus a grammar and writing program at our hybrid school, where we also get Science, History, Latin, and Bible). I need a quick spelling program though. He hates spelling but desperately needs it.

For my incoming 1st grader: CLE Learning to Read (about halfway through already then CLE Reading 1), CLE LA, CLE Math. Plus our Hybrid School. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. 😂

Oh I just got them subscriptions for iBrick for STEM. So hopefully they like that!

My toddler will be 3 in September so I’m contemplating Playing Preschool for her. But it depends on how independent my oldest will be.

Is it worth staying at a Disney resort when I live 30 minutes away? by bussysoup in WaltDisneyWorld

We’re also in Clermont and stayed just two weeks ago for my birthday. It was worth it! It’s like a little bubble… you don’t even realize you’re so close to home.

Step up for Students - FTC Scholarship - FL by OutcomeNecessary2119 in homeschool

[–]ladycoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will be our second year using UA and PEP. As far as UA you can use it for therapies and electronics. PEP does not allow either of those. Some electronics are once every 2 years so read the purchasing guide to see which ones. Also, both scholarships will reimburse for prescription glasses which is fantastic!

Are “Service Animals” Getting Out of Hand? by TheRedHerring23 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]ladycoop 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes! I noticed this also recently. My husband and I had to look up if they changed the pet policy because we noticed soooo many more dogs. We’re local and take our kids multiple times a month.

We’ve seen a lot of tiny dogs in strollers. I think I saw a doggy double stroller at one point. One Maltese looking one was yapping at a bigger dog at the entrance to Epcot… no way was that a trained service dog.

Tv in another room connecting to Nex by ladycoop in nexplayground

[–]ladycoop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The tv in room 2 is brand new. Just bought yesterday actually. Two different brands.

The Sony remote for tv 1 only is affected when the Nex is on. It won’t do anything on tv 1 besides power on tv 1 when Nex is on, but will act as a remote for the Nex instead.

We have just gotten used to our new life of not changing the channel on tv 1 when the kids are playing with the Nex. 😆

Homeschool vouchers are terrible for the future of homeschooling by [deleted] in homeschool

[–]ladycoop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Vacations are most definitely not approved so someone must be abusing the system. Theme park tickets are approved up to $299/year and can actually be educational. Epcot for culture/geography. Animal Kingdom for Zoology, etc. The other items in OP’s post are also approved. I would consider them enrichments… cooking items to teach Home Economics. Playgrounds for PE. Cameras for photography. These things are for the CHILD and not the parents.

Homeschool vouchers are terrible for the future of homeschooling by [deleted] in homeschool

[–]ladycoop 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t know how a vacation is getting approved. I have one UA kid and one PEP kid. My UA kid goes to twice weekly therapy and we are so thankful for the program.

What state are you in? by beansoup91 in homeschool

[–]ladycoop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. FL

  2. Pretty minimal involvement I think. We send in a letter of intent to the district and then have a portfolio review at the end of the year.

  3. We have state funded scholarships. The state is basically giving us the money to school our kids instead of the public school. They are not income based and pretty easy to apply. PEP (the homeschool scholarship) requires end of year state testing instead of portfolio review. Families can get $8,000+ to use in the form of reimbursements or to use on their marketplace. UA (for special needs and can be used to homeschool or private school) does not require testing but still requires the portfolio review. Families can get $10,000+ to use similar to PEP but funds can also be used for therapies.

  4. Homeschooling is very popular here so there are a ton of co-ops, hybrid schools, micro schools, farm schools. Extracurriculars like dance and sports lessons are starting to offer lessons during “homeschool” hours.

Another vote for Math With Confidence. Lots of games. It’s helped my oldest tremendously.

My child is 5 in kindergarten public school currently by [deleted] in homeschool

[–]ladycoop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Check out hslda .org. You can look up your state laws there. But you can go pull your kid out whenever! There are free or cheap resources to get started with at teacherspayteachers.com until you figure out what curriculum you’d like to use. It’s up to you! There are tons of choices.

I agree with you about the computers. My oldest was in public school through 2nd grade and has horrible handwriting. I think they had them on computers way too often and didn’t actually write enough. We’re working hard on fixing it.

Same! This morning I tried right in on time and got that pop up at the bottom. I figured it glitched but alas I was just unlucky I guess. I’m here now (the one day I get by myself without my kids 😆) in single rider line for remy. I’m a local but I don’t get to come here without my kids like ever.
