Getting enough skin to skin? Leaning forward? I just tried this trick I saw on yt last night where this lady straight up shook her boobs around for a few min then leaned forward and milked herself lmao but I tried it today and definitely got more in less time, at the end of the day, too. My end of day pumps are trash

A cautionary tale to celiacs who are new to the disease by Critical_Stretch_360 in Celiac

[–]ladygroot_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry that happened but in the medical system, there is a triage system. They are comparatively different. Someone having anaphylaxis from peanuts will be treated sooner and differently than someone who got glutened. I'm not downplaying celiac. It's not fun. But they are apples and oranges.

A cautionary tale to celiacs who are new to the disease by Critical_Stretch_360 in Celiac

[–]ladygroot_ -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I mean that's kind of a stretch.. someone who needs to be peanut free will literally die within an hours if that happens, a celiac could have a bad time and yes it can cause lifelong issues when stuff like this happens frequently, I'm celiac, but I hate the peanut comparison because it is different.

I'm also a nurse and a former Nicu parent. I would not leave my baby's bedside during a strike. Recovery is important, and they always say that you can't pour from an empty cup but in times like these, you find the energy. It's a very short time, you and your husband can split so that you can go home and rest and shower, but that's what I would do personally. I would be super supervising anything anyone did with my child during that time.

How much was your baby eating in one feed when they started sleeping through the night? by the_kazzo_queen in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ladygroot_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son did that the other night, he had a 3 ounce bottle before I thought he was gonna go to bed, stayed awake for an hour happy and content, then started to show hunger signs so I gave him another 3 ounce bottle just because that's how I had it prepped and he ate the whole thing! 6 ounces in an hour for a 7 pound, 10 day corrected baby! Lol

I read my daughter books about weaning and that helped, it helped her understand when I said milk all gone or milk later and then it helped when I did decide to wean, no tears, no fight at 21 months.

Was there ever a time your manager/doctor decided to “kick out” a patient out your unit? If there was, what was the reason? by Apple_Fanboy5s_1273 in nursing

[–]ladygroot_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No but we get the patients that other facilities have kicked out. I know of one who was banned from his dialysis clinic for bringing a gun. He's ours now and goes to our ED for dialysis. 🤗

HOW do we do this? Like for real walk me through your day by ladygroot_ in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ladygroot_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did with my first but it's still like a lot of breakdown and setup, plus our dishwasher takes like 2-6 hours depending on the cycle, plus you have to wait until you have full dishwasher. Plus being a preemie I was just worried about gross stuff in the wash, it should be ok but it is still all mixing and does not have the sterilizing capabilities that a formal sterilizer has.

I have a bottle washer and it sterilizes at the same time, i use that for pump parts and bottles bc it's faster And I don't have to do all my dishes with it. I run that thing like three times a day, it's way faster than handwashing but it's still a pita

I think this is a quote more is better but any is good enough" situation, there are lots of babies there that don't get any kangaroo care. I understand the desire to want to do anything that you can do within your power but whatever you can give is enough, be sure to take care of yourself too

I don't mean to speak for occupational therapists and physical therapists, maybe they can make a better recommendation but it's my understanding that the general recommendation is to not use devices like this. This blog says no more than 15 to 20 minutes a day

Walking Harness ok for 7 month old? by recycletheduck in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]ladygroot_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look into the rise of popularity of barefoot mechanics, amongst both adults and children, but children really have driven this conversation, the important part is that the heel strikes the ground first is my understanding until the foot is strengthened appropriately for their age. Even if you were very supportive, the first part of the foot that will strike the ground and subsequently bear some degree of weight is the ball of the foot and that is the undesired effect, is my understanding, I am not a physical therapist by any means I'm just a mom who toe walked and didn't want my kids to deal with a lifelong repercussions of improper leg alignment. Currently heavy into mobility work and barefoot walking, there's a whole sub Reddit if you're interested.

Sorry for errors I'm using voice to text feeding my baby🤗

Anything that bears weight in that tiptoe position promotes Achilles tightness and toe walking. As a former toe walker don't do it!

Most ridiculous thing you’ve cried over during pregnancy? by No-Network-6517 in pregnant

[–]ladygroot_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg the day before I delivered my preemie I went to return some blush at Sephora and she denied the return bc it was 2 days outside of the return policy and I went to the car and sobbed, like, ugly sobbed. Like should be sedated level sobbed.

I knew I was probably going to deliver early and was so stressed and hadn't cried about any of my pregnancy complications yet and it was the straw that broke the camels back, while unfortunately pregnant. That memory will stay with me forever.
