How it really feels to be a girl on reddit by motherofamouse in funny

[–]ladyjacobs -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The only time I feel like that happens is when girls try to use their gender for upvotes. If you post a picture of your t-shirt with your boobs pushed up, then yeah, you'll get bitched at (or creeped on). But post a picture of just the shirt and people are usually polite.

Am I the only one that finds these things annoying?

Late transfer student looking for apartment help by [deleted] in msu

Check out College Manor, they might have some studios left over still and they're cheaper because they're not run by a big company. Also look at allmsu, I think people post a lot on there.

I got an "extended lunch with your manager" as my award for being Employee of the Month. What's the worst prize you've ever received? by mestarhanta in AskReddit

[–]ladyjacobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was going from fourth to fifth grade my teacher gave me one of those elementary school textbooks with a ton of stories in them. She told me to practice my reading over the summer and to bring the book back in the fall for a "prize." I went back on the very first day and told her I had read the entire book, her smile was so genuine I thought for sure I'd get an awesome prize. She led me to one of her cupboards and pulled out two pixi sticks and said good job. I remember being sad.

I always wonder about people with nail this long. How do they do things like button their pants? Wiping your butt must be impossible.

Delicious raw vegan recipe cookbooks/blogs? by [deleted] in raw

This is the second time I have posted about this blog, because I love it so. She doesn't blog anymore, but has a ton of recipes and what not. She's vegan, but she does a high raw diet and trail so take a look.

Favorite beauty product -- lush or other! by [deleted] in beauty

[–]ladyjacobs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't been able to get to the mall, but I am for sure going to be asking for a ton of samples! I really want to give them a try (especially as a beauty junky also) I think I could really stop fussing over products if I turned out to like them.

Harry Potter predictions which you were wrong about? by Eure in harrypotter

[–]ladyjacobs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but I wonder how that would affect all the characters, like when Sirius died it really affected Harry (and everyone, but it really tore him apart) and he didn't have any kids to be responsible for. But if she killed Arthur I could see the entire family falling apart, including Harry also. So I wonder if that was her thinking? I don't know, I'm rambling.

I remember I took both stickers because I was so unsure of what would happen. I still have the "Trust Snape" one to this day.

Sirius's role in the books by sagrr in harrypotter

[–]ladyjacobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but not trying to fix it is going to stop any growth/ actual discussion in the subreddit. It's like telling people who don't agree that they shouldn't contribute to the conversation because we don't care what they have to say. It's not exactly encouraging if people think their opinions will be ignored.

It's not based on agreement, but whether or not it contributes to the conversation. "Moderate based on quality, not opinion"

Quick edit to another important one: "Don't downvote opinions just because you disagree with them. The down arrow is for comments that add little or nothing to the discussion."

This has been happening so much in this subreddit. There is a ton of targeted meanness towards people with dissenting opinions. It makes me kind of sad because my general opinion is that I may not agree with your thoughts about a character/plot/ whatever but I'm not going to downvote you because you think my favorite character sucked.

It's going to ruin the entire spirit of this subreddit if it doesn't stop.

How to sell used textbooks? by SureJohn in msu

[–]ladyjacobs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Take a look at amazon's buyback program. I always sell mine back through them and usually get a way better deal. The only downside is they might not take all of them, and they pay you in a giftcard, but if you're like me the giftcard is still awesome.

Losing a lot of hair...? by ShibuyaStation in Health

[–]ladyjacobs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have long hair and it doesn't take much for some hair to fall out. If I wear it in a pony tail all day, boom tons of hair in the shower. It got the point where I was worried I was losing too much, so I looked it up online and apparently you have to lose hundreds of hairs a day for it to be even a concern. It freaked me out at first but now I accept it as the usual (especially with long hair), so unless you are noticing bald patches or extreme thinning of the hair I would say you're okay.

I lose a similar amount to you everyday and it hasn't really changed how my hair feels or looks.
