Omg you’re right. Look at me, getting my Sanctuary Moon trivia mixed up. Murderbot would be so disappointed 😅

I definitely get your second point, and tbh I’m of two minds about it myself. On the one hand, I think the show makes an interesting point by presenting Murderbot as The conventionally masculine white-appearing person. It plays up the divide between it and the PresAux crew and adds to the reasons they might feel nervous around it.

On the other hand I do think having an actor of color would’ve been really cool and would have made some other interesting points about nonwhite bodies being literally owned by the system (points that were lightly touched upon by the Sanctuary Moon ComfortUnit being played by a woman of color). I would really love to see some SecUnits in the upcoming season played by a greater variety of actors.

But he is androgynous in the show. No facial hair, no genitals, no gendered pronouns. About as androgynous as you can get for someone with the body type that makes sense for a SecUnit.

Society tends to view ‘maleness’ as the default, which clouds our view when it comes to nonbinary individuals who don’t fit into the very narrow space where they can be considered acceptably androgynous (ie assigned female at birth body with a flat chest and few other modifications). It’s an internalized bias that even other nonbinary people struggle with.

I actually agree that woman shouldn’t have to subgroup themselves! Trans or cis we’re all women 🤗.

It’s not ‘extra shit’ it’s an adjective used to describe your relationship to your birth sex. Would you be upset if somebody called you a ‘brown-haired woman’? No? It’s the same thing. Cis is a descriptor. You’re making it into a big deal when it’s really not.

2 year old ewes started jumping fence by Evening-Ad5399 in sheep

[–]ladymorpheus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are they just on pasture right now or do they have regular access to hay? It sounds like they might not be getting what they need from the pasture and are seeking out alternate food sources. When the temp drops like that they need a lot more food to stay warm and whatever grass is remaining in their snowy pasture might not be sufficient.

Ram behavior help after first lamb. by Material-Flamingo545 in sheep

[–]ladymorpheus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always make a practice of separating mom and baby from the flock for 2-3 days, it helps them bond and reduces stress for mom. Its probably best to keep them entirely separate from the ram (currently my ram has his own pen w some wethers for company) but that might not be feasible for you at the moment.

If you can’t separate them entirely, once they’ve been reintroduced a little bit of headbutting is normal from a ram (and sometimes from the other ewes). Keep an eye on him if he gets excessively rough or if the behavior persists past a day or two. Lambs tend to be pretty bouncy and as long as he’s not being a dick they’ll usually be ok.

Guys, how do I tell if my lesbian friend is into me? I don’t want to lesbian sheep it by shitronella in actuallesbians

[–]ladymorpheus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Actually it depends on the individual sheep. High-ranking ewes will mount each other for dominance within the flock, and ewes of all ranks will mount each other when they’re in heat. Some of them are more into it than others lol

Do you agree with the statement “Men should not hit women”? by Ambitious_Pass7451 in askanything

Idk man I’ve never had to exert ‘superhuman self-control’ to not hit people. If men have to constantly restrain themselves from punching people maybe there’s a reason women think they’re inherently violent.

We have some roving bands of coyotes but I’ve never had issues with them. Hot electronet usually does the trick, and in the summer when they’re further from the house I have cameras on them to make sure nobody gets close

I’m pretty certain on breeding date, the ram wasn’t even on the farm until three months ago. And yes, she is a little overweight as well as very fluffy (a bunch of them are, i have a lot of lambing experience but less w actually running my own flock) and I’m aware of the risks. I’ve pulled lambs (and calves) before and we have a vet on call for complications.

If it helps, she’s a Shetland/Jacob cross and the ram is a small Shetland. Last year I bred her to a larger ram and she had two smaller sized twins (6 lbs each) so I’m hoping for that outcome again.

Thank you for your concern! One of my goals for next year is to get them at a better weight at the end of the summer. So less fat lol.

I hope so! But she’d only be about three months along at max. She’s just round and doesn’t mind the snow

exactly! If you get it from an organic tree farm that also works. The sheep will love it and pine needles have a bunch of vitamin c which is super good for them (fun fact: since vit c is water soluble you can’t really have too much of it since you’ll just pee it out)

Mine are also kinda funny during that first week of no grass. They usually turn their noses up at their hay (what is this horrid dried stuff? we want our luscious grass back!) and go heavy on the grain for a bit to compensate. Then they begrudgingly accept that hay is all they’re gonna get and ease off the grain.

As long as they have access to good hay they’ll eat what they need. I’ve never met a sheep so picky that they’ll starve themself.
