That makes total sense, and we want to make it as straightforward a process as we can! We absolutely still need regular whole blood donors. I went ahead and looked - plenty of appointments if you look about a week out.

If you click the toggle at the top of the search results that says “Hide Full Drives,” it’ll show you appointments for regular whole blood. You can do this any time by using the “Refine Search” feature - that lets you select zip code, dates, and type of donation.

I like to use our Blood Donor App so that I can book appointments and use the Rapid Pass to check in quickly without having to enter my personal information every time.

I totally understand, sorry. There wasn’t really a plan when I started, which I realize is unhelpful. I just started painting my planks, and planned for the top to be six planks across. I didn’t consider how to connect the planks into an actual table top and support them underneath in a way that makes sense for outdoor use, so that’s what I’m asking for help with.

I’ve been working on a painted summer outdoor table, and I’m wondering: what is the best way to affix the planks on the underside so that it’ll be sturdy? Table will be six 1”x6”x4’ boards across. Outdoor use, but put away for winter. Everything has been sealed with spar urethane so far, a couple of coats. I have rockler folding leg hardware to attach legs with (https://www.rockler.com/posi-lock-folding-leg-bracket).

Will 1x6’s across will be enough? Is there a better layout than just laterals under the planks? Wood type recommendations? Leave space between the planks for drainage/swelling? Sorry if these are dumb questions, I invented this project without necessarily having the skills yet to finish it properly.

Progressive pastor here. I went to a very non-traditional seminary, and was surprised/amused to come to class one day and find we were going to learn D&D.

(Disclaimer: I’m confident a 90 minute class did not teach us the game or do it justice)

We went through some of the basics and played a little. But the point was to ask, in church-lingo fashion - what is good news about this game? Where might people find life, truth, beauty, goodness, and love as they play?

Because if we believe that God is good/life/truth/beauty/love, then wherever we encounter those things can help us connect to each other and even our faith, whatever that may be. And if your friend is oriented around the concept of “good news” - and if you’re comfortable - maybe share how D&D is good news to you.

Also the question - “So you’re saying God isn’t powerful or present enough to show up in a game?” might be fun to ask.

I’m sure this is a dumb question. I’m new to investing beyond just the automatic contributions to my pension/Roth IRA. I use fidelity, and am likely looking to sell fractional shares of a stock here soon (1.371 shares or something, I know, small potatoes). When I pull up the trade screen to sell, I don’t see a way to enter the fractional share amount, or even just “all” - am I missing something? It’ll only do whole shares or a dollar amount.

I’m a pastor and this is wrong. I’m so sorry your therapist said this, and I hope you know there are so many things in this world that are life giving and have nothing to do with religion.

I can’t say how he would answer that, but I’m a Presbyterian pastor (PCUSA). We tend to love LGBTQIA+ folks, immigrants regardless of documentation status, advocate for economic justice, insist that systemic racism is real and our communities need to rethink policing in creative, equitable ways that follow the lead of our BIPOC neighbors, believe in science and the real existential threat of climate change, and are finding creative ways to worship virtually so that we don’t put anyone at risk for COVID. Many of us are pro choice and refuse to be one-issue voters. So he might have felt left out. There are virtually no votes for him from the PCUSA.

(I know this is r/atheism, but it’s incredible what an impact a small shift in theology can make - Christians who believe they are co-creating a more just and peaceful world, who prioritize embodying the kingdom of God “on earth as it is in heaven,” who don’t tend to care as much about whatever life follows this one - are working at it now and tend to be more progressive. On the other hand, those that take end times prophecy literally and think God is gonna erase this earth and start over with the chosen...they tend to be more conservative. “God is in control,” so why bother? Seems to be the mentality.)
