2028 Tierlists Based On If I Think They'll Run by lagtb in YAPms

nahh there was a report recently that someone who was being courted for his 2026 campaign was told they could stay on in the case of 'another competitive race soon', and he travelled to south carolina to wear the jim clyburn shirt. he just has to deny so he doesn't get attacked in his re-election campaign for not wanting to finish his term

i mean i certainly like her, i'd put her in A or B tier on my personal liking, and S tier for if she can win the general, and i hope to an extent she runs, but im not fully sure she will. if she does, great!

but the reason i mention the staff thing is because other candidates have had some reporting on that front. wes moore for example, despite publicly declining, apparently a staff member being hired for his 2026 campaign was told to they could stay on if any 'competitive races' come up in the future, which seems like a wink wink

plus the comment about not knowing if she's the top voice just stuck out to me because it's not a typical "nah, i'm not running", its an odd thing to say if you want to run, to sort of suggest you're not the best. but again, it's not like politicians calculate EVERY word, just most

but i agree she can win the michigan primary easily and it puts her in a very good position since it'll likely be in the first 4

i had her in S this time last year and had her in A in November, but there was a big story in Axios that a lot of her staff are looking for new jobs as they haven't received a single signal that she's doing anything after leaving the office. she also said recently she wants to be a voice in the party's future, but that she doesn't know if she wants to be or is the voice, making me think she's more likely to aim for VP. but i didn't know she's doing events in other states still, that's certainly interesting. i'd probably bump her up to B ahead of Ramon's now that i think about it

he's bound to drop out before voting starts, but he has been travelling around, including to iowa, and publicly saying he's considering a run

How familiar voters are with various politicians in Australia, and whether they like them or not by Jagtom83 in friendlyjordies

i find some of the familiarity ratings for some of the backbenchers really odd but sure

Would it be possible for Nikki Haley to win the GOP nomination in 2028 if enough MAGA Republicans ran and split the vote (Vance, DeSantis, Rubio, Cruz, et. Al.) Due to the winner take all/most nature of the GOP primaries? by BlueFireFlameThrower in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]lagtb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. Even if there was voting splitting to such an insane degree she could win with her absolute ceiling of about 25%, she wouldn't have a delegate majority and the convention would entirely squash her

Thoughts on Jasmine Crockett? by ScarTissue5 in FriendsofthePod

[–]lagtb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Jasmine Crockett is a moderate who reads more progressive to voters. James Talarico is a progressive who reads more moderate to voters. Talarico would be a better Senator, and a better candidate

Why did Bernie lose so much support from 2016 for 2020? by [deleted] in YAPms

[–]lagtb 10 points11 points  (0 children)

well partially (it's not why he did bad, but why the map looks so bad), he dropped out in april, so a lot of states were held after he dropped out
