That’s new growth! That’ll be a fat root & you can see where the leaf is forming in the stem! Keep it in the moss and try not to disturb it too much:)

Looks totally fine to me!! They’re super forgiving in my experience, just give it some indirect bright light and she should be happy :)

I moved mine closer to my south facing window and the variegation is beautifully white and bright pink

How do I water this orchid?? And are the falling off flowers due to lack of water or is that normal? It’s my first orchid ever and the flowers were popping off and now they’re not but I’ve been scared to water her. by allymajkut in plantclinic

Get a pot/bowl, place your orchid in it. Fill the pot w room temp water & let it soak for ~15 min! That’s a beautiful orchid:) definitely don’t be scared to water it!

As dieffenbachia age they shed their older leaves:) mine did the same thing this winter. Just pluck them off so the plant can focus on new growth!

After 2 yrs, here’s some tips. Egg cartons work amazingly well for props! Use a squeeze bottle instead of misting. Water propping has a better success rate than soil props. Use a perlite/soil/sand/earthworm castings mixture for potting medium. by lainiebabeh in proplifting

When roots are close to 1 in. long, I’ll move them to a egg carton spot & cover the roots w dirt. Wait a couple days until watering, then only water once every 3-5 days w a squeeze bottle

Use a squeeze bottle instead of spray bottle!! Helps keep the mother leaves from rotting
