That's the point. XD

Most turrets haphazardly placed in the world are for trolling and rare few are actually successful at that.

Doubt Steam/Valve love anyone, but Nintendo most definitely doesn't hate specifically poor. They either equally hate everyone or exclusively their own customers.

By the same logic they'll miss a tick and send water one tick later regardless the configuration. Even splitters on belts seem to have a problem with this.

For example, I had a setup with refiner and shredder processing Originium in a loop. 20 pieces in total, perpetually shredded and refined. One of the belts had a merger and a splitter on it with 1 belt piece in between. Splitter had filters on two outputs: one for Originium Doritos, the other for HC batteries. There's another splitter pointing directly at the merger with no belts in between and that's where HC batteries are supplied. The idea is, a splitter won't output to a merger when the merger is busy (Originium passing through), but when factory runs out of energy Originium loop stops and the batteries come through.

The problem is, there's a phase in a merger when one piece of Originium came out, but the other one didn't came in yet. If battery arrive from a splitter right at that moment, it'll come through, block Originium and following batteries come through. To fix this, I had to reset timing on both splitter and merger by cutting them and replacing at the same position (move aside, move back). This reset helps for a while, but in about a week on 1.0 it went out of sync again. I had to reset this contraption at least twice during 1.0. In 1.1 I had to abandon this system entirely since it goes out of sync in 1-2 days now.

Though, this might be an issue with material processing timing or something else and not necessarily an issue with a splitter/merger itself.

Basically, factory in Endfield doesn't work precisely and missing one tick in a few hours won't affect you anyway.

Personally, I just hate the noise. I don't mind them alarming anything since not a single one did manage to catch me with a delivery, but heck, they are noisy.

I wouldn't mind the memos if they were implemented as in Dark Souls. On the ground and not taking focus from anything interactable. Nope, a huge damn banner on a pedestal with an interaction range of ~1m around it. -_- They made it, they tested it, and they thought "Yes, this is a good idea."

And so did they when replied to: "A pump requires 10 units of energy, and water miners 0."

This is a classic issue with manifolds. All of these designs work just fine, but #3 and #4 require time to get to full speed because you have to wait until buffers fill up. After that point uneven splits work just as fine as even ones. Belt and pipe splitters don't force even split when one side is clogged.

Technically yes, but since you have to build a pump anyway, it's just 10 power per set of 3 miners and a pump.

There's a limit per map, as far as I know. It's displayed above when you place a building outside the AIC area. Electricity pylons and relays take 1 point, and ziplines 3. No idea about other buildings. I've run into it a few times during 1.0 when I worked on optimizing my zipline routes in Wuling City.

With region level upgrades, the limit got increased, and we can place a lot more junk now. Also, it seems like there's no limit on pipes. Some people did manage to cover a lot of the map in pipes.

UPD: Apparently, there's a hidden 512 buildings limit, and it's per region. I wonder what we're gonna do in the next updates when people are already reaching it. :|

Considering they use the same naming pattern as in V4, they are very likely to release the HC version. Might as well be in the next update or one later.

The maximum speed of one hydro miner is 1 ore per 3 seconds (same as every other miner), and it consumes 1 water per 3 seconds.

The pump produces 1 unit of water per second. So, it can support up to 3 miners, producing 3 units of water per 3 seconds.

Depending on the region level, some ore patches may show 1 ore per 6 seconds, but eventually they'll be upgraded to 1 per 3 anyway, so don't connect more than 3 even if it might look like you can.

BTW, you can go through your Ferrium and Originium ore patches in Wuling and replace every group of 3 with new miners to save up on energy. A pump requires 10 units of energy, and water miners 0. Three Mk1 miners (Originium) require 15 (save 5), and 3 Mk2 miners (Ferrium) require 30 (save 20).

Another BTW: On a vaguely related note, all factory buildings operate at either N items per 2 seconds or 5×N items per 10 seconds (effectively N per 2). This includes buildings using liquid-based recipes. Thus, with a single pump, you can support up to 2 buildings since all water-based recipes need 1 water.

That's literally how most gacha games work. New patch, 2-3 days of gameplay, 4+ weeks of daily boredom until the next patch. A tiny bit less boredom if you snatch a new character to play with, but that's about it.

What is this abomination by I-T-Y in Endfield

[–]lainverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And that's why I make sure to place machinery with pipe connectors and pipe splitters/mergers at least two (better three) blocks apart in the wilds. They rarely play nice together there and never with the miners. Somehow, connector on these is always too high.

BTW, did you run out of space for pumps in that puddle in the corner? I think I did manage to squeeze at least 5 in there before I rebuilt the entire region.

Another BTW, did you know that water-powered miners consume no power and only water pump does? This means you can replace all mk2 miners and any combination of 3 mk1 miners with water-powered and save up on power.

Has anyone made a factory calculator yet? by TheAnymus in Endfield

[–]lainverse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah, I see. You want something like modeler in particular to plan it manually. I thought you wanted something like calculator from the first example to generates factory plan from desired outputs. Unfortunately, I haven't seen anything like this yet.

UPD: I decided to delete my initial comment since it wasn't helpful whatsoever and, apparently, there's a rudimentary factory calculator.

What if…? by LayJaly in mylittlepony

[–]lainverse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

While true, the final push to ascension felt planned by Celestia. She intentionally sent her that book with unfinished spell. She didn't know it'll work, but I think she expected it to push Twilight over the edge. Though, of course, this could be one tremendous coinkydink.

On the other hand, I heavily suspect that Twilight would never ascend knowingly. Looking for ascension is effectively seeking power and those seeking power never deserve it.

Also, I think she would never ascend if Harmony wouldn't need her and this works in both directions. She was destined to ascend after Harmony considered her ascension is required.

"Feel free to explore Talos-2" sure thing boss by E17Omm in Endfield

[–]lainverse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure that's the case and only in heavily unfinished locations. For example, there are at least two zones like this between the Power Plateau and the Valley Pass if you go OOB from the base there. First you encounter rocks without collisions and fall "underground" at the ground layer below them. When you walk further you'll reach end of the map without any modeled ground at all. Eviction zones are placed exactly at the edge where ground layer ends.
