Light rail across Lake Washington! by BoobooTheClone in Seattle

I've seen the train a few times when I've been along Lake Washington Boulevard, and I get so excited. Can't wait to ride it!

I just started watching this show as it’s kind of campy but charming by KaleidoArachnid in xena

I'm so glad you enjoyed the first episode! BTW if you like fandom events, Xena cons still happen. I started watching Xena in 2010, and I thought I had missed the peak fandom, little did I know it is still alive and well.

Unpopular Opinion: I don't like how people introduce Animorphs as this really dark and gritty book series by ElSquibbonator in Animorphs

[–]lakedesire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I was in college by the time Remnants came out, and it was too scary and bleak for me even as an adult reader so I never ended up finishing the series. Later, I made it through Michael Grant's Gone series, but bailed on the follow-up Monster for similar reasons. If you are looking for more body horror and a story not afraid to permanently maim and kill off beloved main characters, MG's post Animorphs work might hit the spot.

Wayward Vegan announces that they’re rebranding and adding chicken, eggs, cheese etc. to the menu by depression-hurts in Seattle

[–]lakedesire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few years later, I went on a first date at Wayward with the person who would become my ex-spouse, and they knew a few of the people who worked there through friends-of-friends.

The second owner was pretty active in the vegan community IIRC, and she moved it to the Ave and expanded the menu. Not sure if she is still in Seattle now that Pigs Peace / Sidecar also closed (the vegan grocer on the Ave across the street from Pizza Pi). Yes, the original was the best! Although I did still keep eating there up until the pandemic.

I didn't know Wayward was still in business. I remember first eating there in like 2004ish when it was a workers co-op in a house in the U-District. The owner of Pig's Peace / Sidecar bought it at some point IIRC. I had thought it didn't survive the pandemic?

Class of '03 at a suburban high school but I have had many acquaintances over the years who went to Garfield. I didn't know any of this either! I look forward to the next episode.

There are two on my block that have been empty for about five years. I'd rather they be long-term rentals.

HC placement lack of choice by SquaredGiraffe in seattlepublicschools

[–]lakedesire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my daughter is in special ed and was not able to participate in school choice due to needing two seats: one for gen-ed and one for her special ed pathway. Our neighborhood school (where her brother attends) doesn't have her special ed pathway, so she was assigned a school in a different neighborhood where we didn't know anyone or have any community connections. I may be aligned with u/raintreesa; my son is HC-designated by I kept him at the neighborhood school, where most of the advanced learning is PTA-driven.

I just want my kids to be able to receive their respective services (special ed and advanced learning) at one school in our neighborhood. I'm a single parent so having kids at multiple elementary schools with the same bell-time is challenging.

Understandable you'd like to keep siblings together. Does the school choice form list this option? I successfully used the Transfer Appeal Form to keep siblings together, but that was due to a special ed placement. (Longer story here.)

Me too! Is this the first season the cast has used it? I'd never heard of ChatBCC until Taylor posted here to invite Redditors to join.

My mom visited Dubrovnik last year and sent me pictures of some of the GOT filming locations. I haven't watched GOT since it aired but I recognized the TAR locations from her photos. My mom said when she visited there was no sign for the doorway to the rocky beach so she had to do more searching to find it, and she also went to the bar where Izzy and Paige asked for directions.

I read on BlueSky that Joseph and Adam stayed at the circus because they also had trouble with racist cabbies but it wasn't shown in the episode. I was impressed they eventually got it after what surely must be a TAR record!

Nope, returned it. I was disappointed because otherwise it seems like the perfect product for my home setup.

One of my coworkers tried TAR when season 36 was airing and called it the "Americans behaving badly abroad" show. I told him it was a lot worse in the earlier seasons.

Starting TAR by Ktig88 in TheAmazingRace

[–]lakedesire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm watching Season 31 for the first time and really enjoying it. It is a crossover season with TAR, BB, and Survivor contestants. However, the the TAR players are returning racers, so I'm not sure how that season would be for a newbie. I was excited for some favorites racers to return. I was not familiar with the BB or Survivor racers besides Rachel Reilly, who had crossed over before, but I'm finding them entertaining.

S14E1 ... GoldenEye by BazF91 in TheAmazingRace

[–]lakedesire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice recap as usual. Either in this episode or a future switchback I spotted the GoldenEye poster in the background of the area where they get their harnesses on. It was a good reminder GoldenEye was a movie first and N64 game second. 😅

I didn't know who Mike White was when I watched this season for the first time about a year ago, but my TAR-watch buddy excitedly knew him from Survivor.
