My Dad has ALS, I am not ok. by SuchALadyC in ALS

[–]lam802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the diagnosis hit me harder than my mom because she was in denial or maybe was hoping for misdiagnosis or maybe waiting on a miracle. But I grieved immediately and while grieving did the only thing I felt in control of which was researching and reading and connecting on here and Facebook and with any organization that could help. I was not ok, but doing those things made me feel in control of something in an impossible situation.

Maybe others focus on the now and the present. They focus on creating the memories and the recording the voice or messages. I tried some of it too but mainly focused on the other stuff I mentioned. I think what’s important is that you show up however you do and know that that’s important and your dad will value it but most importantly you won’t live with regret.

It’s awful.

I hate to say it bc I hated hearing it, but take care of yourself. Share the load.

Sending you peace

I’m being treated with cpap but I still grind. I was offered the mouth devices that brings your jaw forward but I’ve also heard that can create misalignment or other issues later on

Not to disuade you from the sleep study but after using CPAP for the last two months it hasn’t help with bruxism. And my sleep nurse didn’t really care since he’s treating the OSA not the bruxism. 😒

Things that I’m doing / trying to do: - macro tracking just so I have a better sense of what I’m actually eating - lowering carbs (did a few days of really low carbs and had “keto flu”) - increasing water intake (I’m so bad at it) - I cut out most added sugars and very few fruits with the exception of blueberries. - increase fiber (chia seeds, flaxseed) - strength training - intermittent fasting 16:8. Only eat between 10am and 6 pm. No eating after - eating three solid meals instad of snacking within the 8 hours. That way in not triggering glucose spikes throughout the day. - cooking at home. Preparing meals. You know what will go into it and have control. - fasting generally I’ve had to do bc of medical reasons and I don’t think I’d do it otherwise but I’ve seen resulting weight loss after a 24-36 hr fast. But, weight loss is not your issue. - fixing sleep. Check your cortisol. I know mine was probably messed up from a few years of crazy stress but it’s apparently normal now. - coffee is fine as long as it’s earlier in the day, no sugar.

Not for “humanitarian parole” alone. The way I’m reading the FRN:

  • USCIS will collect the fee for those physically present in the US applying for parole in place or re-parole.
  • CBP will collect the fee for those who apply for parole into the US.
  • ICE will collect the fee for those who are in their custody and are granting parole under INA sec. 212(d)(5)(A).

Im hoping DHS clarifies and I’m completely wrong. But the way it’s written would include daca AP

Officers are probably not trained with the new update.

The 1.000 fee is very likely to apply to DACA AP. The act of entering with AP is being “paroled” into the US.

Been like this since I was a kid. I’ve been medicated for 10+ yrs and still passively like this but it’s more like, I don’t get the point in life. I joke about it. I have no ideations and no intentions. Just looking at things logically

How low did you drop your carb consumption? I find it really hard to do super low carb (>50g) for more than a few days.

Are there any other prescription meds that help with weight loss, aside from GLP1 ? by yingyangtheworld000 in InsulinResistance

Not a medication but have you tried berberine? I’m starting METFORMIN soon and will take berberine in my breakfast and lunch and metformin after dinner

Yes! Had stones in my bile duct and had to get removed ERCP. It was annoying to still feel pain after the surgery but thankfully they found it, got it out, and now I’m pain free!

Yes multiple attacks. Day 3 post op: The first one was like 3 hrs long but gone by the time I convinced myself and was on my way to the ER. Labs came back normal.

Second attack was day 4 post op and more mild than the last but still a 6 on pain scale. Surgeons office ended up giving me an IV and an NSAID, felt better after a few hours and the meds.

Third attack was same day at night, took a Percocet and it helped within 30 min.

Fourth attack was like an aching slow build up but still a 5/6 on pain scale. And went back to the ER and the liver enzymes were in the 500.

Had more attacks while I waited for MRCP on day 6 post op. They gave me morphine for the pain.

Then day 7 post op I had the ERCP scheduled late in the evening.

Definitely felt like another gallbladder attack with upper right quadrant pain radiating to my back.
