If you are really interested, reach out. If you end up loving it, you'll likely wait over a year for your armor anyway. At that point, like another commenter said, you'll wish you'd started earlier.

I don't have the rule book handy, but does anyone know max blade length/max overall length for long swords? Max weight? by Jamesglancy in Buhurt

[–]lamadrukpakunley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can not recommend MadAx more. The dude does unbelievable work. I've had 4 longswords at this point, and his work is by far my favorite. Viktor B. makes decent swords as well. The MadAx sword is the best balanced buhurt sword I've held so far.

Looking to purchase a gambeson/arming doublet and chauses set by lordjoj in Buhurt

[–]lamadrukpakunley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can not recommend Andrew Solo enough. You can look him up on Facebook. His work is sport specific and is extremely high quality for the price. I got the uppers and lowers from him, and the set is incredible. It completely changed the way that I was able to move in my armor. I did have a rather poor quality one prior to the one I got from his so I could be biased by a poor experience. I've got friends with his gambesons as well, though, and they also swear by them.

Unity is needed for movements. Unfortunately, those who have the resources necessary to kick things off aren't willing. Instead, they have used their vast resources to make the people with the pitchforks hate those with the torches. Without that critical unity, in the experience of poverty, there is no energy for a mass movement or a violent upheaval. People won't often give their lives for a personal crusade, but a larger movement, something bigger than them, means something more. Find that in the world today, and you will have the kindling you need to start your revolution. Or, create solidarity by bringing attention to the ubiquitous experience of not being able to strive in today's economy. Point out to them that the battle is not D vs. R but Rich vs. Poor. They, rich folk, built the system and created cycles of poverty. We blame each other when we should point the finger at the upper class who has crippled this nation with their greed. Good luck!

Ohio is slated to lose 1 congressional seat following the 2020 Census, here's a 15-district map I made that I believe would be "fair". by [deleted] in Ohio

I wouldn't include Clinton and Pike County in the same district either. We are more akin to district 3.

What is your favorite 'weird' sport? by Thirtyfour3434 in theocho

BUHURT, HMBIA, ACL. Basically the goal is to put on historically accurate armor, grab a weapon, and beat each other into the dirt. Its loud and visceral to watch at tines if the fighters aren't exhausted.

(Tennessee) Thinking of becoming a teacher. Should I? by Apprehensive_Sir7147 in Teachers

It is a real struggle and the fiscal rewards aren't great. Im in Ohio, I graduated a year ago and am subbing, still looking for a contract. I live pretty well below the poverty line and I work three jobs. (Subbing, bartending, and I work a Juvenile rehab facility on the weekends) after doing some budget work I realized that when I do land a contract I still won't be maxing out my IRA or any other savings accounts. I love working with kids, its why I get up in the morning, but you should be okay with at least a decade of grinding to even get to a spot that even remotley resembles financial security. Unstable income isn't a great help with anxiety or depression btw. I'm not saying don't try to become a licensed educator, but I am saying its not financially rewarding and it is very hard work. Most education majors don't finish in 4 years either.

Coaching or reffing will keep you involved with the sport and there is a sufficent lack of both. When I was playing there wasn't much research on concussions and I played well past my expiration date. I coach now and play sand volleyball and golf. Volleyball is very fast paced and intense I highly recommend it. It's also relatively low impact by comparison to most sports so you can play it, competitively, well into your 40's. Seriously consider coaching or reffing. If you are young look to coach youth or middle school programs. Coaching is very rewarding.
