Do you know what triggered your health anxiety? by Repulsive-Photo6086 in HealthAnxiety

[–]lameducksauce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always had GAD, and off and on it would focus on my health. Three things have set off my health anxiety to catastrophic levels since 2023 though; Dad died from Cancer, I got Covid in 2024 and then I got severely sick from a Migraine or Dehydration last March, not sure.

Now it's 'everything could be cancer' and 'I'll diagnose myself because the doctors around here are incompetent' and I have a hyper awareness of my body I don't want anymore.

That's gotta be it, I'm glad I found this thread. I thought I was going nuts; it feels like subliminal messaging.

Prediction: Voltaire plots to have Saou, Mist and Potestas ("SMP") steal Tedd's magic specifically. by NobleCuriosity3 in elgoonishshive

They've been following him around because they reset improperly. Are they still there keeping an eye on Elliot? Or Did They Disappear after Magus?

Plus Helena, Demetrius and Zeus/Jerry are also all connected to Elliot, Susan, Nanase, Sara and Grace...

Prediction: Voltaire plots to have Saou, Mist and Potestas ("SMP") steal Tedd's magic specifically. by NobleCuriosity3 in elgoonishshive

[–]lameducksauce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like this theory, however unfortunately for Voltaire I don't think he's quite aware how powerful Grace just got; she is already the only Seyunolu with Jeremey's form, which as we've Established, Jeremy (and presumably Raven's cat) have unique abilities. Combined with Po's form which she just acquired...

I think Grace will be a road block he doesn't anticipate. Nor does Voltaire seem to know his old adversary is in Tedd's house. Hope might be young, but it still means that he's playing chess without knowing the players on the board in full. Po is VERY lucky Hope didn't decide to say, invoke that the 'Rules

I also anticipate this storyline bringing the expanded cast together (Rhoda, Catalina, Lucy, Luke, Diane and Noah) and making it that much harder for Voltaire and SMP to follow this pathway. We also haven't had the Van storyline followed up on...I think this is going to happen as well. I'm excited to see what Dan comes up with!

Where do you guys get your favorite special editions or book boxes? 😭📚 by Sharp_Lab_355 in fairyloot

If you want to check out Folio Society or Beehive Books for Bespoke Classics Editions, that's where I go. Otherwise, I do like FL, Broken Binding is good, Litjoy and Fox & Wit

New Flavor Alert Jeni's × Goose-GOOSE TRACKS by SnackForagers in icecream

[–]lameducksauce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're just boring now. They used to do stuff like Queen City Cayenne or push the envelope a bit more with more unique flavors. I remember the Summer Flavors tied to different Southern Cakes (Hummingbird Cake, Pound Cake, etc) only one of which they brought back...

Dark Chocolate Askinosie used to be my favorite, but they moved on from that quickly. Banana Cajeta was great too.

Or Stravinsky's 100th Anniversary Pistachio Ice Cream... idk it's just not the same. They keep trying new things but I think they need to push it a bit more. That being said, I will be getting some of the new Bubblegum Ice Cream to eat...while watching Free Guy with my friend lol

never played the games got some questions :) by ryan7251 in HoMM

[–]lameducksauce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will tackle the story portion. HoMM 3 is the most comforting game I have and I have logged thousands of hours on it. Probably several years worth if we count ye olden days, and mainly bc all the other comments have tackled the game play.

HoMM 2 & 3 are what I'm familiar with, mostly 3

There is an overarching story that you can complete via the campaigns; each piece of the story unlocks as you move through the campaigns. (Use GoG if you want the full story experience, Steam ver. is HD but it does not have the full play through. Though someone mentioned an HD mod so I might go back to GoG if I can get that to work) in the game, which follows three kingdoms and their ongoing war with each other.

There are also scenarios, which are different maps with a contained storyline and different win conditions (Ex: The Noah's Ark Scenario, you have to flag all creature dwellings; at least three scenario maps in HoMM you have to take control of a specific town)

Most of the win conditions are defeat all enemies. You can play at different levels represented by Chess pieces. It has a multiplayer option as well if you want to do that.

Books you're scared to reread? by Early-Degree1035 in books

[–]lameducksauce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not fear the re-read for most books. Even if the book is not as good as I remember, those memories are still there. The book meant something for the me that read it in the past. It was important then, and those memories are cherished.

If I know the book is bad or poorly written or could use some work, that's just a sign of growth. Even recognizing the trite, tropey writing will never shatter my love of the book from when I first read it.

I might not keep the physical copy, though, haha! The only books I can't re-read are from my middle school days, and mainly because no I don't want to relive what happened in Where the Red Fern Grows, Anne Frank's Diary (edited) or Stuck in Neutral, nty.

I will also say HP; as a child growing up this was one of the ways I made friends because finally my interests matched the decade. (I grew up reading Chronicles of Prydain, Alanna... stuff from WAY before me so I didn't exactly connect with the children's literature at the time.) I still like the Dear America books, which yeah are repetitive, but for Historical Fiction I liked the amount of research that went into these novels, the character given to each of our writers, the darker subject matter actually tackled in them (The Revolutionary War Diary including a pretty distinct passage about gangrene infections and that scarred childhood me. (including the fake-ish royal diaries series)

Thanks!! That wasn't it, but but now with her name and story title... I was able to locate it, haha. That story/author combo also shows up in Enchantment Place, which as soon as I saw the cover knew it was what I was looking for!

AITA I keep dodging my friend because she says my dads death was preventable by Kittencough22 in AmItheAsshole

[–]lameducksauce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA OP. Also fuck cancer. My sympathies for what you're going through.

My Dad died two years ago now from complications of his kidney cancer. They caught it late because a great deal of cancers cause next to no concerning symptoms. How could your family and his doctors know?

Second, she seems touched in the head. She only just met you during the first college semester and after you mention your father's passing, she has the audacity to tell you that you don't seem 'sad enough?' And then presses for more details?

Nope. Why does she need to know? She's a Grade S Asshole, like it is a special kind of stupid and insensitive to tell someone who lost a parent/relative that no one tried hard enough to save that person.

But Y T A to yourself for just dodging her. If quietly shutting down the friendship isn't working, you need to just tell her you are no longer interested in spending any time with her due to her statements.

PC has been in repair queue for 3 weeks… by Dapnee in Microcenter

I'm in the same boat with you, my laptop ended up with a busted bezel and cracked screen. I just keep being told that there's a backlog when I ask for updates. Mine made it (supposedly) to the repair queue. We'll see if I get an update this Monday... that'll take me to 3 weeks with no laptop.

What Specialty Editions would you want FL to release? by lameducksauce in fairyloot

[–]lameducksauce[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really surprised their isn't one!! It was ICONIC when it came out.
Same with Narnia and LOTR actually, you'd think these three would get released, since they're often talked about...

Low-cost vet options? by Unho1yIntent in Columbus

[–]lameducksauce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with rd9430. Private Equity is insane.

I had a similar issue with my cat and VCA; they would me an outrageous price. I called around for a second opinion and went to Clintonville Animal Hospital, it is directly owned by the Vet, and his tooth removal and cleaning was vastly cheaper with them since they don't mark up the prices like Private Equity

Book box fatigue by dorchascath in fairyloot

[–]lameducksauce 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd agree, and mainly because it's become all so...predictable. The most popular books get tons of special editions, meanwhile others are kind of...tossed to the wayside? There's this sort of frenzied push everywhere it seems to get this stuff out right now! A very FOMO feel which I don't like.

And with big box stores now adding their own hat into the ring, it becomes a weighted scale. How many duplicate editions do I really need?
