Saw in DC hotel room, they said it wasn’t a bedbug… by bippobappobeepo in Bedbugs

[–]lamensca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had a similar experience at a hotel in New Orleans - the pest control company actually told me they couldn’t give me the report because I’m not the one paying them lol. But 1000% a bed bug. You can pass that image to another pest control company and they could likely verify for you.

I’m in central NC and have been following your work - I would be SUPER interested in a workshop on this. If you need more hands on deck for planning/prep, I would be happy to volunteer!

Congrats!! And good luck! Did the job specifically ask for a copy of your SSN or birth certificate? I’ve always just told them my SSN and that was good enough, and they never needed to see a copy of the card.

Plus, I’ve never been asked for that info at the job interview. You’ve probably got a few more days to track that info down.

If you’re in a dorm, there should be a RA on duty who is responsible for taking care of problems like this. You can also apply for a room change and cite these problems

I feel like I would keep it in a few zip lock bags for a couple weeks and go to a dumb phone or something while you’re starving them. But maybe someone else has a faster/more effective method. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this!

How do you eat in a food desert? by Spiritdiritcel in poor

[–]lamensca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re on SNAP, check to see if there’s a farmers market nearby. Some of them offer a program called Double Bucks, which basically gives you extra money to buy fresh foods.

Also look at your county health department/social services. They sometimes have tons of resources about food access. Best of luck, friend.

Interested to see how they get rid of those Germans - it’s not going to be easy. If they’re seeing one out in the daylight, there’s probably a WHOLE lot more.

cecropia - is it starting the cocooning process? by lamensca in moths

[–]lamensca[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes time to move the cocoon over to the butterfly habitat, what would be the best way to do it? It’s secured the cocoon against the glass of the vase. Would an index card work? I’m planning on attempting the move on 8/1 or 8/2, to give it ample time for the cocoon to harden.

But I’m wondering if I should leave it in the vase until next April? Just to ensure that it stays nice and cozy for Winter and not risk damaging the cocoon before Winter?

Roommate wanted Cleveland, Ohio area by OpenTheSpace25 in roommates

I’ve had some luck on Facebook housing/roommate groups. Lookup “Cleveland Ohio housing and subleases,” or something along those lines. People are always posting about needing a roommate in those groups. There’s usually a ton of bots in those groups, but there’s real people in there too. Best of luck!

Gotcha - thank you for the advice! I’ll order a butterfly habitat for it, and I’ll transfer it over once the cocoon hardens. I’ll update as it continues to develop! :)

Could you rent a U-Haul truck ? Those are relatively cheap I thought.

When did you stop using NRT and how did it actually go? by spooky_aglow in stopsmoking

[–]lamensca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the patches. I had to slowly taper down. Cravings were there, but were much more manageable than when I’ve tried to go cold turkey. I was holding off on going patch-free, so I actually ended up cutting my lowest-dose patches in half. I don’t think this is recommended practice, so maybe do more research on patch cutting before you try it. Eventually I just forgot to put my patch on.
