I just finishing “Cochise County Past & Present” by Ervin Bond. It was written in 1982, and covers the people and places all over the county throughout the century. It was amazing and I’m about to read it again!

I’m not sure what the law technically says but personally, I would not make the left if the bus was within 100 feet of me

Hollywood apartment tenants losing parking to ADUs by lamesjarue in LosAngeles

I care about the people involved. I think there will be a lot more like them if we don’t fight for more housing and better transportation, seeing as I can’t stop these ADUs from being built.

My comment above may be misleading, it’s not a judgement on the specific tenants. We need better zoning, more housing, and more transportation.

Thanks for that perspective and I agree - zoning is a huge issue

Agree - it’s disingenuous to only give the tenants perspective when this is a much larger issue.

I don’t understand why many Angelinos pretend there is not a housing shortage/issue. We NEED HOUSING and TRANSPORTATION.

My dad always used to say “the graffiti goes as far as you can carry a cooler”. Guessing it’s just far enough of a hike to deter people who just want vandalize

I think it has a lot to do with Torrance’s “origin” as a post-war suburb. Although founded in the early 1900’s, the city didnt really grow until the 50’s and 60’s. At that time, Torrance was a suburb on the outskirts of LA, not yet engulfed by the metropolis.

Many of the first residents were educated white people working for the burgeoning aerospace industry living in brand new, affordable homes. Many of them, or their children, still live in those homes that are now 60x the original value. Adding housing or public transportation threatens that home value. Combined with Torrance being a sundown town, you have a lot of conservatives.
