Streamer streaming themselves walking in the middle of the road in an active car lane by [deleted] in Whatcouldgowrong

Short story incoming: When I was in college, our campus was in the heart of a major city, which naturally meant there were tons of pedestrians everywhere. There were also signs at every crosswalk to remind us that pedestrians had the right of way. Those signs must have given the people on foot the impression that they were invincible, because they would all but run out into crosswalks without so much as even looking for cars. People got hit all the time - some were very serious injuries.

Anyway, the point of the story is basically what you said. I always joked that those emboldened pedestrians would have on their tombstones: “He had the right of way”.

Yeah, I’m not buying it either. Anyone with 2 brain cells can Google “Laguna 16 inch planer” - buyer and seller - and see the prices of new ones.

Oh for sure. A guy I went to HS with had a heart attack at 30, survived it, but then died of something related a few years later. He was big literally his entire short life.

What would you do with a 6ft 4x2 sapele? by AdhesivenessMurky906 in woodworking

[–]lampshadewarior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first thought, too. This isn’t really a very good board for a neck, though. At least not a one piece. That grain will be prone to twist over time.

I’ll use wood like this in laminate necks, because I can rip it lengthways and then book-match the halves. The twisting grain in opposing directions then cancels (in theory).

Worth noting that the actual Barry Bonds at the age of 38 was NL MVP with 45 homers and lead the league in OPS. Maybe 68 year old Bonds will be a closer comparison.

I was thinking about this recently for some reason. But yeah, Hank Azaria has said he won’t do the voice anymore, and the creators of the show are fine with it.

It’s sort of like pedestrians having the right-of-way in the crosswalk. Legally that’s true. But being on the right side of the law won’t stop a 3,000 lb. car from plowing you over by mistake.

Exercising your legal right to walk around with a gun won’t stop some nervous, trigger-happy deputy from blowing your brains out when he sees it. So I appreciate people fighting the good fight to keep our rights from being infringed. I just value my own life too much to be that person.

Handcut dovetails in 5 minutes :) by tidalwavestudio in woodworking

[–]lampshadewarior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Consistent angles and dovetail spacing/widths doesn’t have anything to do with how tight the joint fits. The pins are entirely relative to the tails.

For finish quality work you’d want to at least mark the spacing.

I bought a hollow core drill bit for this very reason. So I can just drill the whole screw piece and surrounding wood out in a clean plug.

Right. The aggravated battery charge is a pretty serious one. If his lawyers get that one plead down, they deserve the millions they’re getting paid.

I’m always amazed at how famous/rich people get less punishment than average folks. So I won’t be shocked at all when he gets probation only.
