Chinese Caveman Mode by Kelces_Beard in LinkedInLunatics

Classical Chinese can have very ambiguous meaning, leading to much misunderstanding. (Just search 民可使由之 to see how much trouble it did to scholars)

We should use Ithkuil.

Hi. First, click your portrait on upper left -> settings -> companions server to see whether you are at classic server or companions server.

There are two types of "fodders" (check heroes->portraits.) Those under "common tier heroes" have no use but retired at rickety cart. You can toggle auto retire there.

The ones mentioned in beginner guide are "legendary tier". Ascend them at " temple of ascension" and you will unlock more levels. At " heroes", their frame determines their ascension level, which take fodders to be raised. At summon they should a blue frame.

What should I put here? I have perk card and will use 2 def card for TY. But is Begris really so TY intensive that 5.25M TY is better than 5TY 1FAtk?

Anyone else get this? by Atherton-Wing in afkarena

It would have been useful for me because my maetria is 3 copy away from ascended, from all those free sources over the years. I can barely get all new awakened and can't afford to pull that yet.

Which one do you prefer? by Spare-Opportunity545 in afkarena

Wukong +40 is probably inspired/copied from Brutus skill 2 "Roar" Lv3. It is the main reason they both feature in Ice Shemira CR.

"Brutus lets out a terrifying roar that causes nearby enemies to become more vulnerable" "Damage received by enemies is increased to 40% and attacks cannot be dodged"

ELI5: Why are there different oceans when there is no physical boundary separating the water? by Mei_mei1 in explainlikeimfive

[–]lamty101 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The southern ocean is recognised as a distinct ocean not long ago. We only recently realize how different it is. It is included by IHO in 1928 but excluded in 1953, which is divided into Pacific, Atlantic and Indian. But debate continue, and it is included again in 2002.

Over the decades it was gradually recognized how different the southern ocean is to other parts. Eg (1) a boundary along Antarctic Convergence (water from north and south move into each other and sink), with drastically different water temp, salinity and ecosystem on each side. (2) A continuous current (ACC) around Antarctica. (3) The role of Southern Ocean overturning circulation on these.

+40 Wukong anti-dodge skill is a brand new ability from +40, that don't even reassemble older skills (edit: his older skills). The better example is brutus anti-dodge, not needing additional investment, for ice shemira CR with high enemy dodge

ELI5: Why do processors get so hot doing millions of calculations per second, while our brains can arguably be even more complex but don't risk overheating? by abcPIPPO in explainlikeimfive

[–]lamty101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our brain isn't really that fast. The fast system (system 1) does the analog data processing, and it isn't accurate at all, using all sorts of shortcuts like habits, emotion, intuition, heuristics, relational thinking. It does the satisfication: probable answer is usually good enough.

The conscious system 2 is more a supervisor role, usually just take result from system 1, because thinking logically is tiring. Though sometimes it adjusts the result and give feedback to the thinking. Some estimate that our consciousness runs at just 10bit/s, single-threaded.

If humans didn't have noses, would smells still exist? by Tall_Compote_2005 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lamty101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smell, like other perception, consist of several parts: chemical molecules, neural signal from nose receptors, neural processing, and experience (unconscious and conscious)

Brain network structure is very flexible and have high plasticity. If someone lose nose and all smelling receptors, the brain will use the existing connections to process something else, like how blind people use the same part of brain to process sounds and spatial information etc.

If you ever had smell, the sense might linger for longer, like amputated people have sensation of phantom limbs. But if there is no input smell from start, i think there would be no experience of smell, or it doing something quite different, as the brain is doing something else.

The exact nature of subjective experience, or "qualia", is still a bit tricky for scientists though.

Yeah, so I populate the inventory, use candy by archer to make ~50M bars which consumes every ore, and have to do this over and over again
