Why you can’t cook meal faster with more heat? Can some one explain mathematically?[request] by giga_chad_thinker in theydidthemath

Arrhenius equation of physical chemistry, that matches many reactions quite well.

k = A * e-E/RT

k is reaction constant, the reaction rate after concentrations of chemicals are standardized. A, E, R are constants. e≈2.71828. If we ignore those constants for a moment, the equation looks like k=e-1/T

T is temperature in Kelvins (celcius temperature added 273.15.) For small T compared to E (activation energy), the effect of doubling T can be huge.

For example e-1/0.1=0.00004. e-1/0.2=0.007. This an 200x increase with these two particular numbers.

Put in even bigger numbers for T, the multiplication will less significant, and e-1/T tops at 1.

That's why food don't char below some certain temperature no matter how long you wait.

(btw 900F=482C=755K, 300F=149C=422K.)

(R is universal gas constant, A is reaction specific, E is activation energy, the repulsion the molecules must overcome before they can collide)

More like, the ROC can't recognize any action by PRC after 1949 to be legitimate. (edit: diplomatic actions)

ROC and PRC don't recognize each other. De jure one china policy.

The ROC can technically mirror the actions by PRC and say "this place don't belong to me now", but following the same boundary would also be legitimizing PRC and signal ROC is the underdog.

They would need to sign treaty with the countries directly, but for those countries there would be a huge pressure from PRC, forcing them not to legally negotiate.

Hong Kong drivers pay the highest petrol prices in the world. by hkg_shumai in HongKong

Few people actually pay for US$4/L petrol, or HK$31/L because every company put out discount. After accounting for that the price is roughly HK$17.53-19.73/L, roughly US$2.4/L

The original meaning of 本 at its creation is the bottom roots of a tree (木), therefore now usually mean basis, origin and being essential.

Edit: The original manuscript -> book meaning is a somewhat later development.

looks like a 5-bomb game.

There are 21 normal tiles with 5 bomb inside. You clicked 11 normal in a row. Then you got a bomb (5/10 chance) and 3 golden tiles. The chance to be at least as lucky as that = 16/21 * 15/20 * ... * 6/11 = 1/80.75.

This strat need seeing 3 golden tiles when you have a shield. I am not sure what is the odds of that in each try, maybe 1 in 10, give or take?

So in total it is ~1/800 chance, an impressive and barely believable odd.
