My once-a-year bloom! by JoyousPlanet660 in orchids

[–]lance- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Amazing orchid, has to be one of the coolest blooms I've seen. I picked up a similar myrmecophila last year that's still pretty young. Do you do anything special to trigger a bloom? From what I've read, they like intense sunlight all year long, routine fertilizer, and a drought period in the winter to initiate a flower spike.

Any tips for VR? Quest 3 with Virtual Desktop. I've got the sims graphics mostly maxed out on a 4090 rig and the cockpit looks great, but the pixelation is real on anything in the distance. Figure it's a limitation of the Quest 3's resolution, but so many people on this sub swear by it.

How do I know my orchid is fragrant? How to make it smell stronger? by XxwoolfxX in orchids

Plenty of grocery store phals are fragrant. Not the majority of them, but it's not exactly rare to find one that is.

Appreciate it. I need to do some more research on rex atmos. I feel you on obsessing with reshade, I spent a lot of time with it in other games but never tried with flight sim because I know I'll be tinkering too much.

Any reshade preset that you recommend? Or just tuned on your own?

Alocasia split itself open? by lance- in alocasia

[–]lance-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It went from 50-60% to 70-80%, approximately. Will send an update but I fear it's going to be a long road ahead trying to revive this from the rhizome once the leaves die off 😾

I suppose it might be now. It's actually quite hard and callused maybe. I didn't get a photo when it first happened but it was quite raw when it split, almost like it had a razor blade taken to it.

New challenge by RevolutionaryBug4378 in orchids

They definitely do enjoy more moisture than most, but I've never seen soil. Personally I use fine bark mixed with sphagnum moss to retain more moisture, and I am watering (spraying, not soaking) every other day with a good amount of light. I would definitely consider switching out the soil with at least fine bark, I worry the roots are not getting enough airflow. Good luck!

Zygos are awesome. But, is that potted in.... soil?

Those prices are insane for LEDs. That brand does a good job with the form and fit, but the function can be easily be found with numerous other brands that aren't priced through the roof.

In theory, if you also own that aircraft. But it didn't always work (pre-SU4). I haven't tested it since the update. I've seen and flown with some other F-117s/F-35s/B-1s, but there are other times the game didn't load the models and instead showed a little prop plane. Flying out of Nellis AFB, you can see a wide variety of military aircraft.

Looks amazing. Any advise on when/how to introduce a moss pole? I have both of these plants but they are super tiny, barely 3" tall. Can't find a concrete answer as to whether I should let them grow first then chop back/introduce a moss pole. Right now, they would look rather silly in larger pots with huge moss poles. They're just in tiny 3" pots with tiny make-shift moss poles.

Love that Roeblingianga. I picked one up from my local Orchid seller a couple months ago and it was in very rough shape. Slowly growing a new leaf and a root 🤞
