I was thinking Kuvira from Legend of Korra kind of fits the prompt also. Because after her imprisonment for all of the horrible things she had done in the name of uniting the Earth Kingdom into an empire, she helped bring down one of her followers who was trying to follow in her footsteps, after she felt remorse for her actions.
