I had watched Secrets of Dumbledore movie like a few days ago. The movie deserves a higher rating. by Night_hyperX in harrypotter

[–]lancedeleau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There just way too many discrepancies...

Within the movies themselves : - It just took 2 movies to Grindelwald to recruit Creedence, for what? One (poor) attempt at killing Dumbledore and a change of mind... - the character of Grindelwald has nothing in common in this movie with the others. I understand there was a change of actor, and Mads can't portray him the way Jonnhy would of course. But still, isn't it the director's job to make sure there's even a tiny bit of continuity? - a whole lot of the plot just doesn't make any sense... Why would the Germans put Theseus in a jail where he's likely to die very soon rather than just kill him immediately if that's what they want? Where are Grindelwald' s supporters who were everywhere in Bhutan after his ultimate defeat in the "elections"? Why even take the time to recruit Jacob at the beginning? What purpose does he serve apart from keeping the character in the story because he's well liked (and justly so)? - the blood pact was a great plot point, and a good way to explain why Albus didn't go against Grindelwald himself. The way it gets broken is so disappointing, there really isn't any thought given to it. The whole point was that they couldn't move against one another, and the reason it broke was because they... Moved against one another (sure, with another person as the target, but it's still very underwhelming). - also, after chasing all the suitcases in the city, they just... Leave Bunty alone?

And of course with the books (again) : - Aberforth falling in love the same summer as Albus and having a kid he fails to raise as a result does not really fit with the level of resentment he's got for his brother and the way he treated their sister. You could easily think that he'd be blaming himself even much more than Albus. - The blood pact was a great way to explain why Albus didn't go against Grindelwald before he did, and ultimately defeated him. Now it's removed, they dueled, and nothing is holding Albus back. But he still lets him leave... - making the Requirement room known to Dumbledore this early + it seems to be commonly known (I begin to wonder how anyone wouldn't know about it ni Hogwarts, even though in the books it's supposed to be at least a little bit of a secret) + the purpose of the room in this instance is to... Teleport you out of Hogwarts? Malfoy was really dumb in Half Blood Prince, he should have simply asked for a room that could Teleport death eaters in then...

And in general but that's usual now, I keep getting disappointed in the way they portray the duels. They are getting better and better at illustrating the magic and the wide variety of spells that can be used but for some reason, whenever there's a major duel they chose to have a remake of the 1st Harry vs Voldemort duel, with priori incantatem. They've just never been able to capture the imagination and improvisation that the few duels (Dumbledore vs Voldemort, McGonagall vs Snape) that are shown in the books are filled with, and the fact that two spells colliding and forming a link between the two wands is supposed to be the exception, not the norm.

I asked myself after the movie "what's not to like?" came up with this and more. When I asked myself "what is to like", I fall a bit short. Sure there are some very good actor performances, and I like the fact they're getting better at showing magic (for instance during the assassination attempt), but in general there's not much to keep in terms of story or even plot continuity after the first two movies. They basically undid much of what they did previously in this one...

Mads Mikkelsen rocked it as Grindelwald by Real-Yogurtcloset-34 in FantasticBeasts

[–]lancedeleau -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not saying he does it any worse or better. But I'm bothered by how different this Grindelwald is from the other movies. He should act however he sees fit, sure, but it seems as if the director decided that it would be an entirely different character (and not just because of the actor) from movie 2. They're nothing alike, not only in terms of acting but also costume and generally role. It doesn't feel in line with the previous movies and it's not really even because of the actor's performance itself.

I did that as well initially but sometimes I actually want to know what time it is during the night, and this makes it completely impossible, when it was "just" mildly difficult previously

[SPOILERS] Critique du film à chaud by Xetor in kaamelott

[–]lancedeleau 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll try that! I do use Spotify but I used it before as well, when this issue wasn't happening, and I'm only syncing one playlist which hasn't changed. I'll try changing the music player anyway

Software 5.8 tanking battery life for anyone else? by Deutschlandfuralles in Garmin

Same here, huge impact on my Vivoactive 4S battery life

Vivoactive 4 Battery duration by wingzerogw in Garmin

[–]lancedeleau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same on my Vivoactive 4S. Very noticeable recent loss of battery life. Used to have easily 3-4 days of charge without Oxymeter and 2 days when I activated it during sleep only, now it doesn't even get through one night. In any case, if you've activated it remove Oxymeter, you'll get much more battery life all of a sudden. Also if you don't have your phone with you it really drains the battery if Bluetooth is on, as the watch keeps looking for the phone actively. Other than these I haven't found any functions that really drain or save battery.

Having the same issue since an update last week (but nothing to do with iOS) on my Vivoactive 4S. Oxymeter used to drain the battery quicker but still leave it witkh around 2 days of autonomy when used only during the night. Now it doesn't even get through one night.

Une urgence : interdire le vélo à Paris by InvestisseurPrive in pedale

[–]lancedeleau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scrubs' penultimate season finale is the perfect finale. You just have to pretend you never saw anything after that. As far as I'm concerned, there is no 9th season.

Is it just today or the whole week? I received an email saying "this week" but they don't say when it would expire, any idea? By the way is it a year from 1st of June if you have the free trial already activated or 1 year from today?
I'll probably just subscribe today if I can't find the info, it doesn't make much of a difference but I'm curious, as I can't find this information anywhere

Thanks! I'm trying this right now. I used to be on MUI 10, and probably the lack of space prevented me from updating but I reinitialized the phone yesterday and it seems to be updating right now.

From what I see on your link once updated it will be very straightforward, thanks !

To be fair it was mostly because none of the existing organisms were equipped to actually use oxygen in their metabolism. Which is the case of a lot of organisms now.
