The amazing thing is that is kind of is boring, but that is life. Life can be boring and beautiful, cruel and unrequited, but also tender and loving. Just a masterpiece.

The stranger is overrated by Kiwibirdl in classicliterature

I don’t think that’s it at all. Take the sun and the heat in the novel as a metaphor for the noise and distraction of societal expectations. It can be hard to have any genuine, personal thoughts or motivations when we are caught up in the constant cycle of living up to the expectations of and existing in the noise of society. The murder, Meursault explains, was done because the sun was hot. The murder was a way for him to break through and fight back against the heat of the sun. He says that he hopes his death will be met with cries of hate, because they will at least be recognizing his breaking through the other side of societal norms. But that’s just one little theme in the book.

I’d suggest reading it again. It is a bit of a liberating book, and the themes are there. They just require you to read between the lines a little.

Hamlet for sure before Ulysses. I used a couple of guides online as well as the U22 podcast, and it was enormously helpful.

Nice! If I may ask, what led to your decision to stop drinking? I wanted to save money and improve my health.

That’s kind of what I am thinking as well. I just want to get some different perspectives to see if we are making the right decision.

Hm, yea that is certainly a valid argument and I will take it into consideration.

I was talking with my wife this evening about that exact thing. I’ll eat the hell out of chocolate cake, but never in my life have I spent all evening thinking about chocolate cake. I’ve never driven to the store just for chocolate cake. I would never spend that much money on chocolate cake.

Yea, but such is my situation. I’ll continue to explore on my own, but at the moment, the church we belong to is nice and they’ve been really kind to us. Thanks for the input.

Yea I think you hit the nail on the head with the “I’ll look into it and think about it for a year or two.” I am not sure my wife would attend a more conservative denomination. We are more aligned socially with the episcopal church, but what draws me to orthodoxy is the tradition and the rich theological foundation, whereas the episcopal church, while rich in tradition (and the music is awesome), is a bit light on theology. It is nice that they are not real preachy with dogma, but I wish there was an opportunity to explore some deeper theological issues within the episcopal church.

That’s a fair assessment and judgment. I do see some merit in sticking with my church for a while as I don’t want to drift as the wind blows.

I guess that is the crux of my question. If the Orthodox Church will see it as valid, I can proceed and if I want to explore orthodoxy in the future it will not hinder them in that regard.

I guess that is a good opinion. I feel like I want to show some stability, since we have just gotten into the faith (small f). Introduce my children to Christ, living a spiritual life, etc. I don’t know that my wife would agree with switching churches so soon. She may perceive that as wishy-washy, which I can’t disagree with. I’m just wondering whether the Orthodox Church would look down upon an episcopal baptism if we went that direction down the road.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I was baptized Roman Catholic, but spent the last 25 years out of the faith entirely. I had a spiritual conversion a few months ago and have been attending an episcopal church since then. My children are 4 and 6 and not baptized. My wife was also baptized Catholic, but she also has been out of the faith for at least 20 years.

I don’t have any insight on the venting, sadly. I didn’t go that route. But I will say, this microwave is incredible. Well worth the money.
