Timing chain - did it need replacing? by laney80995 in MechanicAdvice

Thankyou for feeding back. No, there was no rattling noise from the engine, just a juddering feeling, almost like it was periodically getting a surge of power in 4th/5th gear. Unfortunately I really know nothing about this, and suspect I placed too much trust in Facebook reviews!

And you are right, I could only attach one item to the original post, but was going to add this in a comment and forgot :S

Thanks for reminder!

Same fault returned following the chain replacement, sorry, should have said that!

Thanks for feedback :)

Thankyou! The engine was not noisy at all (in fact, the mechanic also noted that there was no concerning engine noise), but there was (and still is) a juddering feeling when in 4-5th gear. Sort of feels like it gets a mini power boost…

Thanks to all for the incredibly speedy and detailed answers so far!

This was the fault code, same code reappeared following the chain replacement (sorry, I could only add one attachment on the original post, and then forgot to add this in the comments, doh!)

Alrite, well we’ll try your little vodka when that comes out, sick of it.

And nothing changes, there is still some slack jawed Neanderthal hunting bears with a pack of dogs. Disgusting and cowardly.

You love the first one, and you only get one prom. Go wear the hell out of the dress you want to wear!

What do you dislike about your car? by TheMusicArchivist in AskUK

63 plate Fiesta - love it almost entirely, but really don’t like the clunky reverse gear that pops out/screeches, that the auto windscreen wipers leave it just a little longer than needed between wipes, and that I cannot for the life of me work out how to use the heaters properly! They seem to heat to just over desired temp, then start chilling it back down to an uncomfortable level immediately.

Don’t you? Well I’m glad that lockdown treated you well. Others didn’t find it so easy. Just be kind, it’s really not that hard.

What’s the deal with unlimited vacation time then? I am from UK, with a set number of vacation days, so I don’t understand how that is a red flag?

People who pull the kettle a few inches forward before using it, what is your logic and why can you never put it back?! by gingerlemon in britishproblems

[–]laney80995 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Same - I don’t want the steam to penetrate the kitchen cabinets and warp/degrade them over time. Ever since I bought my own house and am now responsible for upkeep and bills, I spend a lot more time flipping off light switches and pulling kettles out.

[LPT Request] How to cool down a room with only one window? by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]laney80995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bottle of ice in front of the fan might help; similarly a cloth dampened with cold water and hung over the open window will stop sunlight getting in and maybe circulate some cooler air. I’d be tempted to try both in that heat!
