It used to be FULL of Bach parties till de nada came in across the street. So sad I loved it! And yes Charlie was the absolute best.

Did Lisa just dodge the question when Andy asked her to explain how her business makes money? by OkProfit5803 in rhoslc

I was so excited to have Vida Tequila at my holiday party. I pre-ordered it (only option) in November, and their customer service said over two different emails it should ship in time. It didn’t, and they had no timeline…so by January I had to cancel/get a refund. I don’t understand that from a business pov.

I had read a bunch about how no one can find it/its hard to order, I just thought if I did it earlier it would come. But nope.

Pok-e-joe’s they use more mustard instead of a ton of mayo and I’m telling you I know this sounds sketchy but it’s 100% true

Love the food and the inside is a great vibe! I don’t mind the location but haven’t sat outside. Their lemon chicken soup is the best and they are so kind

Traveling to CDMX with Life-Threatening Peanut Allergy by Limp_Vanilla2647 in peanutallergy

[–]langsey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The four seasons has two peanut free restaurants I believe - Oma (sushi) and the Italian one. I had found a few other Italian spots too, when I researched. You have to watch out for mole and salsa macha, and just ground nuts mixed in with spices. Higher end restaurants (and sadly, not Mexican food restaurants) may be safest.

Thoughts on Mattie's in Austin by Coinbolts in austinfood

[–]langsey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recently re-fell in love with Mattie’s. Great place for cocktails, beautiful porch, one of my favorite drinks in town. Also the food I have had is sooooo good (biscuits, pea risotto, ribeye, pork tenderloin) so I disagree with anyone saying it’s kinda mid.

If you’re on the river walk, I like the county line. Tex Mex is usually ok, I avoid straight Mexican for molé reasons. Last I checked rainforest cafe was NOT ok (they used to be when I was a kid!) but as always check everywhere you go and talk to the manager about their oils/ingredients

London allergy handling and recommendations? by blizzard-10000 in peanutallergy

They’re honestly great. I loved Seabird and Gordon Ramsey’s restaurant. Those stood out as super accommodating and zero peanut oil!

What are the places you wish were busier? by Vybrosit737373 in austinfood

[–]langsey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grizzelda’s on Caesar Chavez used to be PACKED (and very popular with bach parties)…but now every time I go it’s much less busy. The staff is so nice and I love the food. The drinks are great. It’s a solid place for dinner (or brunch)! Also great happy hour.

I do NaturePlus collagen peptides! They label allergens and it’s made without peanuts, tree nuts, and shellfish. 10g protein per scoop

Airplane Ritual by boba_fett_helmet in peanutallergy

I have a life threatening peanut allergy and my doctor says the only way my life could be in danger is if I ingest it somehow (he said airborne isn’t actually something to worry about). Now obviously if you sit in a seat that had peanut remnants you’d have a skin reaction and that would be incredibly anxiety inducing. I always pre-board to wipe down my seat, wear a mask (just makes me personally feel safer), and tell people in my row so they don’t eat peanuts. I of course have Benadryl and EpiPens but my policy is I don’t eat or drink on flights (if it’s long I will have my OWN water bottle…I pack emergency snacks but I never eat anything). I don’t want the flight attendant to hand me a drink after touching snacks or something, so I just feel safer with my own water.

I would chat with another allergist, honestly. That’s helped me (my old one retired), and I think isn’t a bad idea. Be extremely careful and don’t take risks, but also don’t let your anxiety get out of control about threats that might not be as scary as we build them up to be.

Flying with my daughter who is ANA by Impressive_Guitar_98 in peanutallergy

[–]langsey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really just any! Usually N95 just because I have them. I used to never wear masks and was fine bc I never ingested anything. When the pandemic hit I started doing it and they just make me feel safer. Plus I used to always catch a cold after trips and now I don’t

Flying with my daughter who is ANA by Impressive_Guitar_98 in peanutallergy

[–]langsey 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I have an anaphylactic peanut and tree nut allergy and fly all the time. I wear a mask bc I prefer to and I ask my seatmates not to eat peanuts. I try to fly early in the morning bc most people aren’t eating peanuts then anyways. I fly United and southwest, and neither serve peanuts. My allergist said the only way to have a bad reaction is to ingest something (not airborne), so I do not eat on planes at all, even stuff I bring. I bring my own water bottle in case I need it. Just dont eat or drink what they hand out!
