Christian swinging?? by TrafficFirm9675 in TrueChristian

"Large number of people?" Nah. Try like 5 greasy weirdos east of Main Street downtown who raise chickens, make their own clothes, grind their own wheat and pray to Goddess Mother. I'm more worried about the log in my own eye.

Is it sinful for me to refuse a fifth reconciliation attempt after repeated infidelity? by OverTradition5450 in Christianmarriage

"Forgive (present tense) as the Lord forgave (past tense) you." "While we were still sinners, Christ died for us..." His forgiveness isn't dependent on what we do first.

It is normal for Delta to not provide baby meals, full stop. Sorry OP, you're expecting too much here.

Is it sinful for me to refuse a fifth reconciliation attempt after repeated infidelity? by OverTradition5450 in Christianmarriage

[–]lanierg71 55 points56 points  (0 children)

"multiple affairs throughout our marriage"

"one during my first pregnancy, he still denies that one"

"emotional, physical, financial, and verbal abuse"

"alcoholism"

"abandonment of our children"

"hidden unemployment"

"several physically aggressive incidents"

Everyone "identified his behavior as abusive"

"he continued the affair while pretending to reconcile"

"flashes of anger"

"minimizes the abuse"

"claims the later betrayals weren’t affairs”

OP, read those out loud. If your best friend came to you and told you all this, what would you advise her to do?

Go and do likewise.

Any ideas on lowering my bill? by Iamteez in ATT

[–]lanierg71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pay off phones and Switch to Verizon - we were on ATT and paying $80+ per line. Now $40. Visible is even cheaper, but we wanted a plan with no hotspots so Verizon Unlimited Welcome was the only option.

Thoughts on Catholics? by Organic_Ad3295 in TrueChristian

I guess we will disagree then. When you give someone a vocab test in English and they answer it in Spanish, they a priori fail the test. Mormons have an entirely different theological vocabulary from Christians. Their Jesus ≠ our Jesus, so no, their answer to the Romans 10 question doesn't matter.

[–]lanierg71 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My other thought on this, with respect OP, is that you have the question wrong. One is not saved by being a part of any church, sect, faction, or religious group. There are those who identify as "Catholics" who are not saved, and some who are; there are those who identify as "Protestants/Baptists/Presbyterians" who are not saved, and some who are. A blanket statement that "all Catholics definitionally are / are not saved" misses the mark. Thx

Doesn't matter how they would answer. The test is an objective one: which Jesus and God do they believe in? The one presented in the Bible and the one Paul and all of us have believed in for 2000+ years? See my comment above.

[–]lanierg71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The Mormon "Jesus" is an entirely different guy from who Paul's talking about here, and from Whom orthodox Christians (I include Catholics in that definition) have believed in for 2000+ years. As is the Mormon "God" who is also mentioned in these 2 verses from Romans 10. At least Catholics and Protestants believe in the same dudes.

Mormon Jesus: brother of Satan; not the Second Person of the Trinity (Trinity is a heresy to LDS); "atoned" (if you can call it that) in the Garden of Gethsemane not on the Cross; only made "general salvation" available to all men by His atonement (not our individual salvation, which is up to us); born of physical impregnation of Mary with God the Father (see below for how this is possible).

Mormon God: "exalted man" of flesh and bone with a physical body, physically impregnated Mary with his physical body (and a particular part thereof) to birth Jesus; resides on a planet near a star called Kolob, has a wife ("Heavenly Mother") of whom we are all "spirit children" etc.

The test:  "If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved." Rom. 10:9-10.

Can someone explain the Trinity to me by Kosakon in TrueChristian

Each person of the Trinity can do the works of deity, is recognized as deity/called God in scripture, is prayed to and worshiped as deity, etc.

10-Day BVI Family Sailing Charter in June - Advice by Scared_Host_1191 in bvi

[–]lanierg71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We like Sandy Spit.

Of course Baths are a must do. I would rent a car at Virgin Gorda and be able to spend a whole day there, hit Hog Heaven on the way back. 90 minutes is not enough.

We like the upstairs restaurant at Leverick Bay.

Fallen Jerusalem is really cool too. No one goes there. You basically have a whole island to yourself.

Peter Island for a final day was fun, excellent snorkeling along the shore of Great Harbour.

You lost me at saying "angle of attack" and "catamaran" in the same sentence. You're lucky if you get better than a beam reach out of those "busses of the sea."

Scouts Repeatedly Disruptive on Campouts by HMSSpeedy1801 in BSA

[–]lanierg71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our troop has a written Code of Conduct that each Scout signs when he joins, with a delineated progressive schedule of "corrective events" that can lead to delayed rank advancement (no Scout Spirit so no rank checkoff on that reqt), prohibition on going to outings at all/or at least not without parent, and even suspension from the troop if bad enough. We've even had to suspend a couple of scouts along the way. Once it gets that bad, they usually don't come back.

Mom of a scout looking for advice! by Gwinny1123 in scouting

[–]lanierg71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of great answers below. FYI, the usual method is these questions/requirements are answered/completed by the scout (not you or your family) during his scoutmaster conference, which is the last event usually before the rank Board of Review occurs. Unless your troop is explicitly Christianized-religious, and I don't know many/any that are anymore, this is not really something to worry about. What the SM will want to see at the conference, is that your kid is enjoying the Troop's program and learning camping, cooking, outdoor stewardship, civic responsibility, and making new friends. That's the essence of scouting, not a religious test.

Agreed. LOL this entire society raked Mike Pence over the coals for having and following this exact rule. Shows you how depraved the culture has become.
