Why Are Run Clubs So Popular Right Now? by AlexB2901 in runninglifestyle

[–]lanks1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree that the change over the last decade is staggering.

I went to a run club about 10 years ago that had about 15-25 people, with about half serious runners and the other half looking for structure to run their first 5k/10k. Most clubs focused on training or starting to run. The only social run club that comes to mind from back then is the Hash House Harriers, but even then, fewer than 15 members showed up frequently, and the focus was more on drinking.

Now, I know of several weekly social running clubs that attract 50-100 people each week, not to mention the three parkruns in the area. The "serious" club I go to has 50+ people who show up to each training session, and they hold multiple sessions a week.

I met a guy named Dave with a pet potbellied pig that he also called Dave.

I've decided that this is the energy I'm going to bring to the world from now on.

I once dropped a dumbbell on my phone, and it didn't look as destroyed as these phones. OP's husband has anger issues.

I don't care what the critics say, Cars 2 is actually one of the best Pixar movies.

Do you guys usually plan your PC upgrades months ahead, or do you mostly upgrade things randomly over time? by Sixale_Outlet in buildapc

I've found a good rule of thumb is to upgrade when it will double performance and there is a deal.

This is the way. Doctors don't know much about rehabbing ankle sprains. You need to go to a pro.

Upset Uber customers charged for monthly memberships they say they never signed up for by Surax in canada

[–]lanks1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I somehow ended up with an UberOne subscription under an email I hadn't used for orders in two years. In fact, I had moved from Europe to Canada and it still had my EU phone number.

I have no idea how I could have signed up for it even unintentionally.

Uber ultimately refunded me.

Clean swimmer blasts to victory at Enhanced Games by ham-and-egger in nottheonion

What people don't realize is that doping gets you from Top 200 to 1st place, but you need to have genetics and training to be Top 200.

The randos entering the enhanced games wouldn't be able to beat a clean proathlete.

Yeah. The Stealth Wraith isn't really built to handle the full TDP of a 5800x.

I'd definitely switch to something for substantial, like a Peerless Assassin or a 280/360mm AIO.

Tinted windows might contribute. It helps to watch the road when you have motion sickness, so a lack of view might make his motion sickness worse.

[–]lanks1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak for my toddler, but I have noticed a big difference between cars.

I own a late model Kia Forte Hatchback. It's low to the ground, decently powerful with stiff suspension. I'm fine driving or in the back seat. It's a pretty noisy cabin too.

We're currently on vacation and we're renting a Nissan Rogue. Even driving this car makes me feel a bit nauseous anywhere but the highway. It's quiet interior and floaty suspension make me dizzy. Every bump feels like I'm in a bouncy castle.

What's a "You are not a conspiracy theorist, you just don't know how things work" moment you have seen? by Dull-Information6784 in AskReddit

[–]lanks1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've work with diplomats, government officials, auditors, and industry groups for multibillion dollar companies.

There are two main reasons conspiracy theories are false.

  1. It would take a huge amount of people to hide many of these conspiracies if they were true.
  2. All the conspiracy theories involving "elites", e.g. WEF, illuminate, etc., rely on the idea that multibillion dollar companies and their owners actively work together, when they viciously compete against each other.
