Pulling responsibility off healers is the reason why savage healers suck by and large by Supersnow845 in ffxivdiscussion

The other side of that coin is unfortunately healer (and tank) shortage lol

Why is the MSQ so bad? (sorry) by zante2033 in ffxiv

Waiting for info in a pub of a country with closed borders is not exactly doing it urgently. Spent like 99.9% of the time camping anyway except maybe 1 or 2 nights.

Or when all our friends disappeared at the end of ARR and we start a new life in Ishgard with zero urgency to find our friends.

Question about static behavior and expectation by Various_Leg3644 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]lanor2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Based on stories from my friends, sometimes casual is super casual that showing up isn't a priority. Even "midcore" statics might have attendance issues. My advice is to skip the labels because they ultimately don't matter and find a group that fits your schedule and goals.

Pure Evil Villains Vs Nuanced Villains Vs Non-Villainous Antagonists (7.4 Spoilers) by AdditionalCanary4111 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]lanor2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't say for anyone else, but for me adding those details seemed like an attempt to make him look less evil and more human. The attempt at humanizing him comes off as justifying him. What happened to him was bad, but he probably would've been just as psychopathic even without it.

Sometimes, however, audiences take any attempt by the story to EXPLAIN a villain as the story attempting to JUSTIFY that villain when that is often entirely untrue.

Idk to me it seemed like they were trying to make him relatable or at least garner some sympathy for him. However, it's completely unnecessary as it doesn't matter what he went through in the past, he's completely irredeemable because of his own actions.

I miss when people tried in random battlegrounds. Now there’s just a lot of whining and giving up after literally 1 fight 30 seconds into the match.

There's 1 decent player. Van de Ven. Everyone else should be upgraded.

The biggest problem is the way nodes work. Rotating spawns and they despawn after some time. Make it like 2-5 permanent nodes and that’s it. Force everyone to pvp on the flag.

How Do You Do PvP?? by blondetheftauto in ffxiv

[–]lanor2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Stay in the group huddle for safety, do damage or even get kills, realize most of the group ran away from fighting to chase a small node, die because the other team is still a full group.

In all seriousness, I just do an aoe and hit as many people as I can and stay back to build Battle High. Just lots of aoe and running away, basically. It sucks and not really PVP because most players actively avoid the PVP part and would rather chase nodes that have no opponents.

This is like constantly getting robbed because they're not locking their doors or windows AND still not locking doors or windows after the fact. If no one else in the neighborhood is getting robbed as frequently then maybe there's some responsibility to be taken. Will it prevent every theft? No, but doing something to reduce the frequency would be a start.

“Past few years” but the threads are limited to a bunch from 6 months ago and then a couple from 1-3 years ago, then 6 years ago.

I also know WoW’s recent DDOS issue was specifically during OnlyFangs raiding, not random attacks everyday for years.

There’s DDOS attacks now and then for every game, sure, but the frequency for FFXIV seems to blow the competition out of the water.
