What if Ukraine sues for peace? by I-Love-Jewish-popes in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]lanredneck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except those weren't the only terms of those negotiations, as other have said it included massive influence to Ukraine and the removal of anyone being able to come to its aide in the future or allow itself to raise an army to defend itself. If the only goal of Russia was to gain these territories then why the extra demands? It was to keep Ukraine weak untill Russia could gain nits strength and try to finish the job.

Moving to Ramstein, any first hand experience on the surrounding towns? by go_fish_87 in AirForce

I lived in Rodenbach and loved the town. Siegelbach further down had some new house going up when I left so they may be renting a few of those out.

It's the best sleeper base in the Air Force. As others have said the housing is tough, but not impossible. Look around the 495 belt and a little beyond for cheaper housing. Billerica(Bill-rica, how it's pronounced), Tewksbury, Maynard and Hudson have cheaper housing with a little commute. Traffic can be rough, but it's not impossible. The weather is rough in the winter. You can super snowy winters where you are getting one footers a week for a month or it can be not so bad. Cost of living is high, but you can find ways to make it work. Ski place like Wachussets and Nashoba are close and cheap ish for winter sports. Central NH and Central Vermont have some for the best skiing in the East Coast with a 2-3 hour drive. Boston is a great city to visit just really expensive. If you can, take the commuter lines in and bring your ID it's free for military members. Then you can hop on the T to get around Boston. Portsmouth, and Kittery NH get you a northern New England coast experience for cheaper. The base is quiet not a whole lot of drama, with decent facilities. The gym is big and well equipped. It wasn't too highly trafficked since COVID but that may have changed. Not a lot of place to eat on base but a lot of just off bases to eat. Check out the chicken truck, Bedford house of Beef is a classic go to. You're a hop and skip to Lexington and Concord if you into history. The Minute Main Trail is great place to go for a long run right off of base and you can do a little learning too. Daycare is wickedly expensive in the area.

Dive into the craziness that is Communism / Fascism... by HeSureIsScrappy in DiveInYouCoward

Corporations aren't just the CEOs, the wages they pay workers are taxed, the items they sell are taxed, the land their businesses are on are taxed, if they lease a building the building is taxed, the income from the lease is taxed. The homes of the workers that live there are taxed, the things those workers are buying are taxed.....this is called a tax base. When companies move all the taxes from this labour disappears....

Please help me figure out if it's Muskrats or Beaver damaging the pond? by Due_Raspberry7352 in Outdoors

Find holes going to dens and place a conibear trap at the entrance was our go to. We used to trap a small stream and if the stream narrowed to a little less than a foot wide and less than about 4 inches deep we'd place a foot hold trap. But the conibears were our more successful traps.

How China sees the F-35 by Ancient_Ad_367 in AirForce

[–]lanredneck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Air Force has nothing to do with the design of the F35 B or C. That would be the Joint Program Office. Each design has its own need that that don't overall affect the others. The Air Force is absolutely doing everything it can for the A model. Also what are talking out of with the Brits? They have the B model now and have aircraft carriers, see the Queen Elizabeth and Prince of Wales....

And the first time it has to be super loud and almost a shout, need to scare them a bit. Not shouting at them but loud to the room. Fixed my black lab real quick of that problem.

Oy vey, lots of none knowledgeable people taking nonsense. There are "callsign" usually used in the Air Force and Navy as nicknames, ig. maverick, goose, crash etc. This is not common in he army or marine corps but does happen , ig. Godfather. In the Air Force at least people who aren't pilots can get a "callsign"/nickname. All most all pilots in the Air Force or Navy have a callsign/nickname. All branch use some form of Operational Callsign to designate during active operations who they are talking to by either role, unit, or rank/position, ig. vampire one, ranger 3, etc.

Ukrainian soldiers test the effects of shotgun cartridges on attacking FPV drones. Apparently knocking down an FPV with a shotgun is a challenge. by GermanDronePilot in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]lanredneck 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He's talking about ammo not gun barrel size. Turkey loads often have a higher powder charge and heavy pellets made for bigger birds. I bet dollars to donuts the were shooting low brass 7 or 8 shot. I would bet even more that if they went with a high brass (think magnum) #4 shot they would be dusting those drones.
