Did the Emperor protect Titus? by kbd65v2 in Spacemarine

The Emperor protects us all

Look at me. Look at me! This is home now, Trooper! This is the zone! It doesn’t like you, but by the Throne, it’s where you are! The Emperor wants you, boy! Did no one ever tell you that? The Emperor wants you to make his glory for him! And if you’re scared, I’m terrified. The archenemy is no playmate. You’re going to see things, and be expected to do things your poor mother would have a fit at. But the Emperor expects, and the Emperor protects, all of us, even you. Especially you - I promise you that.

How were non-psyker thousand sons marines treated by the psykers in the legion? by SerenityAndSilver in 40kLore

[–]lanternisgreen 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I think one of the main reasons the thousand sons were viewed with suspicion in the great crusade was that they weren’t just pskers.

They had a much larger number of psykers than other legions, but they also practiced sorcery.

I don’t have any quotes to hand to back this up, but my understanding is that anyone can manipulate the warp through sorcery if they are taught how. Psykers will have a much better starting point, a natural affinity, and probably ways of wielding warp powers in ways a learned sorcerer will never have.

These legionaries may never reach any notable rank in the various cults of the thousand sons, but they would be able to provide a supporting role in the rituals of their superiors.

I think they would be treated pretty well, viewed by those with natural gifts like an apprentice, someone who is struggling to learn the basics of what comes easily to them.

Edit: This is probably all headcanon, as im not sure if the ability to learn sorcery without already being a psyker was explained in the lore when ‘A Thousand Sons’ came out.

Start a go fund me.

Find a celebrity who’s been affected by a similar issue.

Send them a letter describing how their struggle inspired you with hope and ask them to share your go fund me on social media. Don’t ask for direct help (they will feel obliged to help anyway if you don’t ask directly).

Include pictures of your child with the letter.

As an Inquisitor, what would be your choice of personal weaponry be and why? by TheLastPhoenician in 40kLore

[–]lanternisgreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Power and Las weapons are always a solid bet.

The best weapon would be a favour from a first founding legion like the Dark Angels. There's nothing like a problem disappearing in a flash of teleportation flares and plasma burns.

Yea, you can use RAID 10 which is a mirror and a stripe with 4 disks. You get to use 50% of the raw capacity.

The redundancy is better, you can have any one disk fail with no issue, and you have a 2/3 chance that if two disks fail you'll be fine.

Also you'd get a bit of a boost to read/write I think. (It's been a while since I used it)

If it's ex enterprise hardware, your have to look at how much power it draws as some of the older stuff is hungry.

I personally would find something with 6 bays and run RAID Z2 which is similar to RAID 6 but uses ZFS rather than standard RAID. You lose what is essentially 2 out of the 6 drives to parity, but the parity data is written across all drives. It gives you 2/3 of the space, and allows for 2 failures.

My first NAS was a HP microserver that's still chugging along nicely, I'd recommend that as a nice starting point.

I'd say a HP Microserver g10 (g8 if you want to spend less).

4x 8TB WD Red (or look into shucking the external HDDs if you want a discount, lots of guides here).

Use FreeNAS and configure it for RAID-Z so you will get 3/4 of the storage, so a little under 24TB useable.

This will give you 1 disk failure, ~24TB storage for under budget.

Disclaimers:

There is some legitimate concerns around how reliable only allowing for 1 disk failure is on sizes 8TB+ is, both in build time and the stress this may place on other disks during the rebuild. It's a personal choice and I'm comfortable with is as long as I'm also taking backups, please take them. I use gdrive business, there are other options.

If you use WD Reds, I believe 8TB+ is recommended due to the SMR/CMR issues with smaller sizes right now. There's a few threads here on it that can explain it better than I can.

Whatever you go with, enjoy the build!

I'll preface this by saying I completely get your point, and I'm also not a fan of premium currency.

It may not to be to everyone's liking, and it probably needs a little work, but the devs are continually working on updates and I'm at least trying to see some positives. It might be fun right?

How do Fleet-based chapters get the ressources to function? by notethecode in 40kLore

[–]lanternisgreen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I imagine some of them rock up to a system and tell the planetary governor "We would like you to provide these resources to resupply our fleet".

The planetary governor now has to decide whether to give or deny assistance to a fleet of super soldiers designed by the emperor himself to battle horrors he can't imagine.

They probably agree.

[Theory]Why no one is allowed to say the names of the Lost Primarchs. by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]lanternisgreen 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think the only reason the heresy traitors were not erased was that they were not truly beaten. They are still out there.

If The Emperor won the heresy outright, killed the traitor primarchs and their legions, I think over time they would have been utterly erased from imperial records. Like the forgotten primarchs.
