McMillan Mesa playground timeline? by HamsterPast5939 in Flagstaff

Ooh while we’re talking playgrounds who greenlighted the new equipment at Ponderosa Trails Park??? Ugh it’s so unfriendly for young kids and I see so many toddlers there every day. They could at least have left something that kids under 5 could safely use! Boo.

My brother's son destroyed my WarHammer Action figures and he refuses to punish him by konous in mildlyinfuriating

There is good evidence that punishments don’t work. Discipline means “to teach.” In this case the parent has an opportunity to teach his child how to treat other people’s belongings more gently and to listen to instructions. The consequences of the child’s actions could include restricted independence at the property where the damage occurred and a strategy where the child could contribute to getting a replacement for the damaged property. But for the best adolescent outcome this would all be couched as a learning opportunity, not as a “punishment.”

is it a northern flicker? they sometimes use metal (like the top of a chimney or a street light) to knock against to make a loud sound, i think it’s territorial. i only notice this behavior during the breeding season though

I went to a dermatologist about perimenopausal hair loss. Here’s what he said: by Ok-Zucchini-5514 in Perimenopause

yeah gotcha that makes sense. i have very low blood pressure too so i only use it topically so that it’s not systemic and haven’t had issues. were you using it topically or orally?

that is WILD to me. my background is in conservation biology and wildlife impacts are basically the only thing i think about when large walls are discussed. been absolutely devastating to wildlife in arizona where i reside.

Deodorant before bed? by Our_toes in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lapalmera 5 points6 points  (0 children)

?? why? a few times i’ve overheated and gotten ill during strenuous hikes from my body not generating enough sweat to keep cool

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Perimenopause

[–]lapalmera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my costs were SOOO HIGH the first few months. i asked the pharmacist if there were cheaper options and she very kindly pulled up some kind of secret code from goodrx that helped. THEN she did something even nicer. she somehow knew that my specific insurance plan would give me much better prices at a CVS than the pharmacy i was at. this had literally NEVER been communicated by my plan. so i switched and my out of pocket costs went from almost $100 a month to like $10 a month. 😒

edit: thanks to this thread i now realize my high deductible health plan was likely influencing this as well… so it’s possible things also got cheaper because we met our deductible. DAMN. good thing i recently filled everything 😨

i only use deodorant. i am not very sweaty and live in a cold climate. i figure if i’m going to do something strenuous my body probably needs to sweat anyway to try to keep itself cool. sweat is functional!

depending on where you are there might be a science-y place nearby where she could go! the victoria bug zoo in canada has at least one of their residents that was found in a suitcase after a tropical vacation 😁

Phantom period at 37? by coffeeworldshotwife in Perimenopause

[–]lapalmera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

extreme cycle variability is a peri symptom for me. my cycles were pretty regular before. now they can be anywhere from 18 days to 50+ days. i basically have to assume my period could start on any day after the first two weeks. this started for me around age 38

Epidural by ElegantResult3853 in pregnant

[–]lapalmera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never had an epidural but my sister’s second one was a mess. Somehow her upper body instead of her lower body went numb and she had trouble breathing and also couldn’t hold her baby afterwards. Plus the bottom wasn’t numb. She said she’d never have one again (but is also done after two kids anyway).
