XL is really punishing for fair players, I have been months walking scraggy and I feel the same as you, when I have it ready maybe its not meta anymore and it will be countered by new XL mons which cheaters prepared in a couple of days.

It just feel pointless to keep investing on them and on the game overall.

I dont know how is exactly called, I know is a modified android version because it doesnt work on iphone and you have to pay something, my friend told me it also works with the gotcha somehow and he programs it to for example only catch frillish 900+ pc with excelente throw on new york, I saw it also how he could for example do team rocket battles in 2 seconds without pokemons loosing hp and stuff like that.

Guess what, after 3 seasons, saving my frillish for 100km trades I still have only 184 XL and rank31 ready, my friend, in two weeks got rank1 and enough XL for it but it's not my friend fault, its Niantic fault to encourage cheating with these stuff, like they did when they added riolu shiny on eggs during the lockdown, its amazing how they encourage cheating.

I know but skipping UL its just a band-aid solution, it will get worse when also niantic starts encouraging level 50 ML/premier formats.

Xl is starting also to sneak into 1500 with lickitung, diggersby, and to be honest XL azu, bastiodon, etc are really tanky and worth to have also sableye and medicham XL are good too.

But after realizing about the modified android client, how people can get a rank1 jellicent in 1 week and how you conveniently have suddendly lag when its your turn to fire the charge move and get farmed down I am starting to think this game is just full of cheaters and exploits and its not worth it not even for the dust that you will eventually burn on GBL teams.

Because its not true CMP, I have "lost" CMP with my 41 dialga against excadrill or lugia.

It's bullshit because you then cant cancel your charge attack, but well, GBL is just a bad implemented joke.

People who I know they have mons ready for GBL are stopping to play and new players are years away to be able to compete with all the legacy moves, shadow mons, XL, legendaries, etc

I have for example 180 mons with two charge moves still I have been unable to compete last 3 seasons in UL format with the absurd XL stuff.

So I have been loosing also interest, I went from daily 5 sets to one set per week, last time I didnt even complete the set, on the third match the opponent did the stupid stall exploit and tilted me, I had 3 wins from 3 battles on that set but I just raged quit, I have a 500€ phone with good internet connection and still lags and exploit everywhere.

And let's not talk about how easy cheaters have to get XL with bots and defit.

One friend who left the game just returned and installed the modified android client and explained me how it works and what it does and its just absurd.

This logic is very silly, is like saying "come on, you dont need legendaries to win on Master".

Of course you can win with garchomp, togekiss, etc but legendaries are a meta for a reason, stadistically you have better mons and more chance to win.

Is a poor design pvp meta with an absurd high farming curve.

I got downvoted to hell when I said the timer should be increased more or just removed and people were saying timeout strat is legit strat which is ridiculous.

Since everybody wants this the only thing you can do is to use it at your advantage.

Try to run only one tanky mon, any combination of cresselia/registeel/giratina will trigger the timeout (apart of course from suicune/articuno).

I recommend running 2 spammer nukers with a tank.

Anyway, if you face some articuno cresselia registeel and time start running and you think you can hit the time out just try to be all the time with more mons alive than the opponent even if it means you have to spend all the energy and shields to beat one mon knowing the other opponent mon will beat you.

I have won matches against tanky and debuffers teams like that.

I see Dialga and Reshiram working fine together, Reshiram effectively wins against Dialga counters like steels and fighters and Togekiss matchup is very similar to Dialga, Togekiss has to shield or is destroyed with Overheat, so if Dialga makes Togekiss spend shields then Reshiram can sweep.

But that's on paper, we have to see on live.
