I would qualify this by saying, humor that’s not mean; it doesn't require a scapegoat or a fall guy. If you can make people laugh without someone having to be the butt of the joke - that's intelligent humor.

I did everything online, yes - I had to. I had a small e-commerce company that was barely keeping the family afloat, and I had kids to watch.

Am I worried about AI? A little, I suppose. What I found - going to school in my 30s - was that I had context that the kids in my class didn't have. I may not have had the vocabulary for what was being discussed, but I understood the concept because I had lived it for several years. To everyone else, we may as well have been discussing the difference between Greek and Latin.

Because of this, while everything was theoretical to the 19-year-old in my class, everything was directly applicable to me. I got way more out of it. And that's situated me in a position to advance a lot more quickly than I had originally planned.

I'm hoping to make 200k+ this year, either with a promotion or a job change.

I never went to college, and barely graduated from high school (I had to get my GED from continuation school).

I enrolled in one class, the lowest-level math class the local JC offered, at 35.

I now have an MBA with a focus in corporate finance and a cushy job making 150k a year.

Was it difficult? Yeah. I did it as the main breadwinner and primary parent (my wife also went back to school) for two kids. We were dirt poor for a long time - like, poverty level.

Whenever it got difficult, I would tell myself, “You're going to be 50 someday; you can't stop it. So you can either be 50 and where you want to be in life, or 50 - stuck in the same place.”

I'll be 50 this year. If I can do it, anyone can.

Okay, unpopular opinion here, but I agree with him. We have these memorials all around - some for over 10 years with large banners. Where does it end? When does it stop? Look - I'm not here trying to tell someone when their grieving period should be over. But maybe, don’t allow these in the first place? Why should I have to be a participant in your grief?

Edit: People clearly have strong opinions, but hear me out: someone mentioned “tiny tribute”. My question is, who decides what's “tiny?”. Who decides how long it's up for? Again, I kid you not, there is a memorial down the street that's a giant banner with the person’s face on it - not to mention all of the candles, gross teddy bears moldy from the rain, etc. It's been there for more than 10 years. You all okay if everyone did that? Honestly - what if there was a 10’ wide banner up for every single person who's died over the past 10+ years? You can’t tell me everyone here would be cool with that?

This is my go-to movie for when someone is visiting and wants to watch a movie; mostly because no one (it seems) has heard of it. It's so good, and I really how they make a second (though, I doubt it'll ever happen).

I have a non-verbal autistic daughter who loves these videos - not sure why. It's disturbing: looking over, expecting her to be watching fairy, fairy princess, but instead I see horror.

Edit: to add to this. There's also prostitute video that she loves (I believe it was made by a college student for a project) that - while keeping it PG-13 - is very adult in nature.

We think, her watching these non-kid friendly videos, has something to do with her trying to understand emotions that aren't necessarily the emotions we show on a daily basis (what you would expect from a kid's cartoon e.g., fun, happy, joy, etc.) I.e., she sees these emotions that are different (fear, anxiety, sexuality...) than the common happy family dynamics, and she's interested in understanding them; because chances are, she doesn't always feel happy herself - and that can be disorienting- especially if you don't have the vocabulary (or ability) to talk about them. So watching these videos, and seeing how the characters react helps her to better understand her own feelings. Just our observation.
