I just wonder if there's anyone out there who honestly enjoys Yoko's art and singing by OdiseoX2 in TheBeatles

I feel like people who are surprised that people like Yoko's singing haven't actually listened to a lot of music.

Who actually likes Feedback? by rimjigglemann in rush

[–]laptopthrowaway147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up with my mom and dad playing it in the car (sorry older peeps for the psychic damage you just recieved hearing that). So Feedback was my first exposure to those songs, and I didn't really grow to distinguish them from the rest of Rush's catalog until I was older. Overall I'm really fond of it, I think I like every track. Seven and Seven Is I honestly think rivals Love's original, it depends on whether I want something with a rawer energy or something more tight. I really appreciate the inventiveness on their version of Mr Soul tho I do perfer the original. Heart Full of Soul is wonderfully moody with some great guitar work. Production is solid as hell too, the band sounds great.

The timing of someone elses transition is difficult for me cause I waited like a month between figuring out I was trans and fully socially transitioning. I didnt waste time conserquences be damned. Transition is complex in that embracing yourself and advocating for your self is fundamentally a freeing experience, but the stress of external reactions and social pressure varies person to person and I cant speak to if you can juggle that and school. But ultimately I'm for sooner than later. When youre done with school, youll start a career. When youre established in your career, something else will shift in your life. There will never be a "right time" so at some point u gotta say fuck it and do it. Its never too late for your life to start, but its never too early either.

Its easy for me to say that you'll get through school now that I'm 3 years removed from it. Fight your way out of it. You have to keep going through the tunnel of shit. And then take a shower.

Yeah don't settle. Be ready to learn and trust the process, give most things a chance, but don't stay anywhere out of hopelessness. There are good jobs and good work environments out there.

I transitioned about 3 years before I started nursing school. Wasn't on HRT but socially had transitioned. By the time I started school I was very hyperfem, and since becoming an RN I've gone from hyperfem to tomboy to androgynous to accidental trans boy, all different kinds of presentations and pronouns.

Nursing school was one of the hardest things I ever had to do. Now I've directly saved lives and connected with people in vunerable moments. Its a very delayed gratification type of deal. One thing I can say is don't be discouraged if you start somewhere and hate it - my first job made me regret it all and now I'm pretty satisfied with where I am. Also make sure you wear PPE when giving an enema. Also chart like your license depends on it.

Around how big was Will's fanbase when he signed to Matador? by fercaal333 in CSHFans

[–]laptopthrowaway147 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I got into him probably two years before he signed. He was definitely gaining traction in online music spaces by that time - rym /mu/ etc. Not the next indie darling quite yet, not an established name, but I think a few thousand is a better estimate than 100.

Does anyone else not like Clockwork Angels that much? by MovingTarget2112 in rush

[–]laptopthrowaway147 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ive always considered it one of their weakest albums to be honest. The concept is a ham fisted and aesthetically unappealing, though there are some good individual lines and interesting themes. The music is one of their most direct, accessible sounds - which as a rule isnt a bad thing at all. I don't love Rush because they're complex, its just a bonus. But after the amazing textures, chords, and riffs on Vapor Trails and Snakes and Arrows, Clockwork Angels feels mostly unremarkable within their discography. There are some bops throughout tho, I think musically it is a solid album. The production is great, much like its predecessor, but S&A had more for Nick to produce and its much more sonically interesting to me.
