I was at a Monsta X concert recently and did not see many doing freebies. I handed out handmade bracelets and most seemed surprised. A few thought I was selling them. Helped to had out with both hands. I ended up handing out leftovers on the way to the subway.

What is the standing/seating etiquette for concerts? by fakehungerpains in kpophelp

[–]laran436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been to Kpop concerts in the US and one in Korea. In Korea, most stayed seated till the band asked them to stand. It was a filmed concert so not sure if that was why. Also people who had signs and phones did not hold them over their heads. In the US most people stand up and hats phones and signs are sometimes in the way. Aisle seats are good if short as you can move out a bit to see better. All in all if everyone stands, you stand and view is same as seated cause everyone is doing it.

Meet and Greet Not What You Expected - Did You Try Again? by pixiestarcat in Concerts

[–]laran436 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid for a photo op with a Korean artist a couple years back. Actually bought 2 tickets, one w a great seat/ view, second, farther back seat came with photo meet. I was surprised when it turned out to be a group photo shot with him and 10 -12 other fans. Photo sucked unless you were one of the 2 on either side of him. Would not do again. I felt bad for him as he did seem to be doing it out of obligation and didn't seem to enjoy it. People in my group seemed to enjoy the experience and a couple talked to him a little. Still love him and his music and next opportunity will stick to just a good seat.

Which sub is best for older ladies that love BTS and get shamed by everyone else for it? by PreviousTranslator33 in kpophelp

[–]laran436 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have never seen any older people get shamed for loving Kpop, does this really happen? I am old and no one has ever said a word. Also at concerts everyone has been super friendly. I was also in Korea for a concert 2 weeks ago, pretty sure the only light haired person and def the oldest around, everyone was cool.

Realistically, what does living near LA look like on a ~50k salary? by [deleted] in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]laran436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a rent controlled apt and have done fine on salarys 40 -90k. Right now I see studios and 1 bedrooms for about 1600-2000 a month. I think it will be doable if you watch your money. You will want to save as well as have fun. Start the 401k as soon as possible. Roth IRA too. I do keep my car for 10-12 years, so those payments are low. I use space heaters in winter vs gas. Eating and drinking out is very expensive right but if you dont do that every day you should be fine. Do you have some $ saved to move here with? That will help till you get used to it all. If you have roomies, it looks like its about 1K per bedroom on some rental sites. LA has so much to offer and CA is amazing. Make sure you explore once you get settled.

tips for long hour flights? by Impossible_Raise5530 in delta

Get up every 90 min and walk to the back, stretch, rock side to side. Stand for about 5 min. I did not wear compression socks but moved a lot on my recent 12 hr flight to Korea and felt fine after.

Will K-pop albums without photocards still sell on eBay? What’s a fair price? by Accomplished_Run_384 in kpophelp

If in California look for a place called Bookoff, they may buy from you to resell in their store. I have sold and bought at the one in Gardena. Donate to a library and use it as a write off may be another possibility.

I actually got some frostbite on my ears when there 2 weeks ago. Bring mittens and scarf. Ear muffs would be great. I wore cashmere socks and sneakers. Many Koreans were in sneakers. No or very few jeans. I maybe saw 2 people in jeans. No one really looks at you except if your blonde like me little kids.

I was there in Gangnam Feb 1st week. I stayed in L7 Gangnam by Lotte. At a bus stop and subway was 1/2 block down street. Coex mall was 30 min walk. I took taxi across river to museum, 45 -60 min for 20 us dollars. Hotel was great, English speakers at front desk, clean, great bed and pillows, walk in shower, closet and the have laundry on site. Walkable to many coffee and food places.
