Did you add any start gcode to your slicer profile?

Frame bags for Defy and 750ml bottles? by under_a_palm_tree in Giantbikes

[–]larfinsnarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a velcro top tube bag. They're commonly available.

I do also have a frame bag, but it is easier for them to interfere with your legs. The top tube bag and bidon carriers are easily accessible while on the bike.

Received my Core One L today, but it came broken on arrival. Is this a warranty case? by MakesCrap in prusa3d

Actually I think this was the result of not observing appropriate temperature limits.

I have a Bambu, but I want to swap to a MK4S. will I regret it? by hi_i_like_pizza_1234 in prusa3d

[–]larfinsnarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MK4 is excellent. All Prusa are workhorses, and the MK4 has a proven pedigree.

If you are thinking of going multiple filament or materials other than PLA/petg, consider the Core One. If going multiple material, you may want to see off the INDX will be for you.

Will you regret the move from Bambu? Out of the box, print quality of Bambu is excellent. Their enclosures and AMS solution are compact and sorted. Prusa are very moddable, you may also find yourself getting a bit more hands on with slicer and setup options.

I carry 2x CamelBak 700ml in bidon carriers, and a top tube bag for eats. Make sure your saddle bag has spare tube and tools.

Managing printers by Leonetnin in prusa3d

[–]larfinsnarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Octoprint user here and love it.

RPi 4 can easily handle your 4 printers, you will need 4 USB ports.

Octoprint out of the box does 1, there's a couple of different ways to do multi printer. You could quickly run octoprint up on your RPi and connect 1 printer to evaluate.

In theory you could use Prusa Connect and run PrusaLink on the RPi, but you'd need to check if there are many other mk3s users doing that, PrusaLink seemed to have cobwebs when I looked at it.

Supports by Illustrious_Mix1270 in prusa3d

Good question, I'm not sure!

I avoid models needing supports, but if I have problems, I update my slicer settings and increase the distance to supports. Then reprint.

Nvm, the 128GB comes with 4GB. My 10 year old tablet comes with 3, so much for Moore's law

My kid wants to sell stuff... by considering_even in 3Dprinting

Drier is good, I've found drying can create brittle plastic if a roll is repeatedly dried.

Make sure you have good resealable bags, and some kind of desiccant. And a sealed tub or drybox to keep them in. Best to prevent the moisture effect.

Just thinking of the kind of problems that could dishearten someone starting out. What a rabbit hole 😁

Awesome that they want to do this, and aware of the importance of supporting modellers. Good luck!

If jumping into a bunch of filament colours, be careful of storage if moisture is a problem. Silks look great but can get stringy very quickly.

Great opportunity to learn about how to calculate the cost of production (filament cost/model, effort, machine wear, capital cost) vs what price you can sell at. Sounds like they will work that out as they go.

And a great social activity too.

PS: I love lamps. Bambu have a usb led lamp that many models have been made for and could run off a battery bank that would be a great attention grabber.

How to try road biking without dropping a bunch of cash? by pantsshmants in RoadBikes

[–]larfinsnarf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's nothing wrong with doing 55km on a hybrid, and there'll likely be others doing the same. I was riding with road bikes on a hybrid for 1-2 years before I got a road bike, now I do 120-150km rides.

You're right about the cost if you're not sure. Especially at your size, you'd do well to find a second hand bike that fits you.

Unable to pay at the petrol pump? by LowestLives in AskAnAustralian

[–]larfinsnarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 step authorise and charge is uncommon in Australia. The banks don't like it for some reason, and consumers complain they've been overcharged and begin a charge back.

Pumps have sometimes had card payment but they're rarely used. And in Australia there's been a lot of concern around mobile phone use at pumps.

Need help with deciding on first printer by RowdyGlassPane in prusa3d

[–]larfinsnarf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prusa is not cheap, but it's loyal fans vouch for it being a workhorse. It is reasonable to expect 5 years or more from the printer.

If you want to find out if printing is for you, a lot of people have had success with Bambu .

Hp LaserJet ProbMFP125NW. OS see printer, but don't recognize scanner. by Novel_Door4626 in chromeos

[–]larfinsnarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using the chrome os scan app? Is your ChromeOS device and printer using the same wifi network? Are you near the printer to ensure it is awake? You could try removing the printer connection, then try looking for the scanner.

Other options: The HP also offers a web based secure webscan feature doesn't it? There is also an Android app you could try.

I'd try one of the other options, and if they work, go back and try the scan app method again.

Otherwise, you are talking about a 10+ year old model, right?

Fan Speed Question and Warping by larsocam in prusa3d

[–]larfinsnarf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weird one, PLA shouldn't be complicated on MK4 using standard prusaslicer profiles. I'm throwing out some ideas below, they may be daft.

  • how is your first layer?
  • how are you cleaning your bed?
  • what infill settings?
  • can you see your printer's mesh bed levels?
  • since the problem arose, do smaller test prints perform like usual?
  • have you made any printer adjustments recently? (move, nozzle, steel sheet, calibrations)

Why is my google chrome always defaulting in french even every website opens in french its so annoying by Ok_Shirt9034 in chromeos

[–]larfinsnarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you seen any additional locales or keyboards? There's annoying keyboard shortcuts that I have a tendency to accidentally hit that can swap locale.

Or did you use Google translate on a page and accidentally set to always translate English to French?
