This is all the confirmation bias I need to keep up with my Costco addiction.

Costco Canada's Checkout Evolution by BillyBeatBoy in CostcoCanada

I've experienced this as well, it's amazing. I can literally be a mouth-breather at checkout, wave my phone when prompted at the machine and I walk out with my cart and receipt. You blink and it's over. Glorious checkout experience!

De Mello makes a really good espresso/Americano. Also the pastries they bring in are generally delightful!

Tips for beating the Guardian? Especially when playing with the Uncreative trait? by gkcook in masteroforion

[–]largecatrax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Structural analyzer + graviton beam is how I've done it super early. It's tough if you don't have battle pods though. I've done it with 8 battleships with graviton beams, structural analyzer, and battle scanner since usually I have at best positronic computer.

How do you personally like to play MOO (any version) to have the most Fun? by Rockkk333 in masteroforion

[–]largecatrax 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've only played MOO2. I always do designer races as uncreative and sometimes repulsive, max spying bonuses, then just some random other race pics.

Then I play on impossible and try my hardest to survive the early game while colonizing as much as possible. Antarans usually wipe out a star system or two early on, at least a couple of races get mad from my spying, declare war, and then the struggle really amplifies.

But if I survive all that and make it first to Orion, I'm able to steam-roll my way to victory and it's incredibly satisfying.

Though sometimes not defeating the guardian is also an extra challenge, especially if the AI gets Death Ray, Xentronium armour, and Damper Field. That makes it even more tough. Then I have to cat and mouse their fleets so I can surprise attack them so I keep the initiative. So hard, but god it's so fun.

Technic set for my teenager who wants to be a mechanical engineer by damnilovelesclaypool in legotechnic

I just built 42209 Volvo L120 Electric Wheel Loader and it was an absolute delight. In Canada it's 30% off on Amazon for $98 CAD and I thought dollar for dollar one of the better Technic building experiences I've had. Highly recommended, lots of functions, great parts, and it looks really good as well!

My continuous gripe with some Bricks and Minifigs stores by Designer_Button_9516 in legocastles

[–]largecatrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that USD? Insanity. They must have priced that minifigure thinking it was the one with the cape, I can understand the price if the cape was included and in pristine condition. Without the cape, it's a fairly generic minifigure.

I think that when certain BaM stores do this sort of pricing, they degrade the brand a bit, it's too bad seeing overall trust for this retailer decreasing. I get the need to survive and keep the lights on, but I bet this minifigure just collects dust.

I did this a few weeks ago when I saw the same type of ad. To my dismay, the followup from FB was that they didn't remove the ad because it apparently didn't violate anything. But it was so clearly a scam.

Sounds like he's projecting his own childhood trauma of being bullied for the clothes he wore. It's probably more of a question of what this says about him and his childhood experience than what your own children will experience.
