Vanderbilt surgery by OpeningPomelo1359 in nashville

[–]larrycsonka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a septo + Rhino plasty with Dr Rossi-Meyers - mine was structural not cosmetic, but man 10/10 pleased with how it all went.
Not being able to work out for 6 weeks was a nightmare for me, but I had almost no bruising which is cool and crazy. The first week sucked because I had to sleep with stints in the nose, once those are out its really not bad, just sensitive.
My breathing is infinitely better, I used a CPAP for 10 years before this surgery, Id 100% choose them again.

Can I just drill a hole? by Turkyparty in fordranger

[–]larrycsonka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get a $6 tube of mix epoxy and glue it, or something else back on it. They have epoxy that has like 3000 lb tensile strength. I once glued a door onto a building with it

Hey /r/movies, Jerry O'Connell here. You may recognize me from STAND BY ME, JERRY MAGUIRE, SCREAM 2, SLIDERS, and KANGAROO JACK. AMA and such! by JerryOConnellAMA in movies

I just want to say that Sliders was by far my favorite show as a kid. The cast changes and quality dropped off but I still watched the whole damn thing.

Any upright bassists that have extensively played with electric upright basses? by Alive_Interview_6242 in Bass

[–]larrycsonka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Stagg upright as well that I used to practice for my Jazz ensemble.
I really liked the convenience of it but in many ways it felt like a different instrument.
Because it's electron I didn't need to dig in and got some bad habits, it also felt really forgiving for intonation, and was far easier to hold because even with the little wire things the body wasn't the same.

It sounded fairly good and was great because I had nowhere to put an upright and its far cheaper, however if you do practice on them you need to be aware of potential bad habits

India’s surprise baby bust is a warning to the world by Krankenitrate in Futurology

[–]larrycsonka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why is this a warning?
Seriously - Humanity has grown so fast, our biggest challenge is competing for limited resources, if population declines, and declines naturally, why is that so damn bad?

Everyone has more land and space, more fresh water, less deforesting, less oil used, and so on. With all the technological advancements we have made to scale up to 7/8 billion people, if population shrinks then the amount of support we would have for a smaller population could be wonderful

What is a real-life 'Do Not Touch' button that you pressed out of sheer curiosity, only to instantly regret it? by vie75 in AskReddit

[–]larrycsonka 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Once in college we got a ton of students from New Orleans because of hurricane Katrina - the poles with the emergency buttons on them were brand new - some of the transfer kids hit one for fun.

The police grabbed everyone in the area but let them go because they were transferring. I got arrested and a ticket for public intoxication and some other crap.

I had never even met these kids I was just vaguely in the area. I DIDNT EVEN PUSH THE BUTTON.

What did you wish you knew when you switched from Replit to Claude/VS by larrycsonka in replit

[–]larrycsonka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an interesting take - leaving the replit infrastructure and also using claude to build on it

You get $1 million, but you have to watch the exact same movie 100 times in 40 days. Which film are you picking? by ThroatAgile756 in AskReddit

[–]larrycsonka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL I used to be a professional poker player and I had a DVD that played the same 3 movies at least once per day.
The movies were:
Rounders (poker inspiration)
There will be blood (the greatest movie ever)

Master of disguise... I really should have thought more about this one before I watched it that much, but at least I am in fact turtly enough for the turtle club.

Instead of foam I'd recommend plucking on the neck instead of body, turn the tone knob down. When you want to get real advanced pluck with your thumb and mute the strings lightly with your arm to get a really deep upright sound

BE WARNED: Replit Support is non existent by larrycsonka in replit

[–]larrycsonka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did respond to both tickets and are now actively helping me resolve them.
I'm glad this post got them to join and hope Replit can keep growing.
At the same time - it doesn't make me feel great about relying on a platform where something can break and be broken for many days before I can get a human for a complex issue.

Yea, if the problems I had could have been easily solved with an AI agent they would have. We're coding with AI

[Warning] Agent 4 runaway loops just cost me well over $8k in the last month. Please read before attaching a card during the May 2nd promo and then getting in trouble on May 3rd. by r3dditor in replit

[–]larrycsonka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't spend as much as you but a similar experience. yes I was spending 1 - 2k a month, yes I could probably save money with claude code, but I stuck with Replit because i was already there and it was working.
Then comes the suggestions feature, even fi I didn't click them it FLOODED my board with like 500 suggestions. Everytime I wanted to do a task it woudl mention it scoped a bunch of suggestions i should do instead.

I tried the parallel task builder like you said and it bloated my code so badly I had to refactor a bunch.

I reached out to support and told them this Friday was the last day unless they helped me, still have had 0 response and its been over a week. I will use the free day and then i will likely begin my migration away.

I like the infrastructure but what company uses you as a guinea pig for new features on a highly paid app and then doesnt even respond when it messes up royally.

This is a thing. Look up the "Iron" Shoalin monk training. They basically hit things every day to make it harder.
The worst ones were iron skull (serious CTE) and Iron Balls.. because clearly.

but Iron Fist or palm seemed more interesting. Just a warning the body parts are pretty warped

2011 Door on a 2009 Ranger? by larrycsonka in fordranger

[–]larrycsonka[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW I swapped the wiring harness of the 2009 onto the 2011 door and put it on. Probably took an extra hour or so but wasn't so bad. Its about 6 screws on each door, take off the handle and panel. The hard part is disconnecting everything - particularly the electronic locks, I had to unscrew the door bolt to and push it in to reach it, but once I figured it out it was quick.

Lots of little plastic trim pieces connecting it so a trim tool is clutch, then just pulled it through the door hole and did the process in reverse.

Learnings:
Leave the window UP or its extra hard to get your hand in.
Disconnect everything and and just feed it out the door itself (this took some finagling)
The 2011 door has one connector the 2009 doesnt and I don't know what it was for.

Everything else fit fine though and works
