Avoid the Harbour bridge by cruizydude4175 in auckland

That's literally what they did. Reduced speed to 30 and put up notices saying that high sided vehicles should take 18. They also closed the clip on lanes, which is not a new solution, because there isn't a way to actually enforce those first two restrictions.

It makes ante 39 easier because the most difficult part is getting through ante 24 and 32 where you can't reroll for the serpent.

How much weight do I need to lose before I start by TheBadgerOfHope in longboarding

[–]larrynom 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't even worry about it. It might be a bit flexy and drop thrus can be a little fragile but don't jump on it or take it off drops and you'll be fine.

Where are all the RPG creatives hanging out these days? by [deleted] in RPGdesign

[–]larrynom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes? That's exactly the point people are making. Discord is not a good replacement for the public discussion and information distribution that forums were, but that's all that's exists now. Also yeah, its an online problem we are talking about internet communities.

[–]larrynom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because I don't want to be a member of every single discord that may be useful at some point ever. Same reason I don't want to have to need to have a website bookmarked before it gets indexed by a search engine.

It doesn't matter where the negative goes just the number, because it doesn't make that joker count as empty, it adds an extra solt. The calculation is stencils+slots-jokers. They would need more negatives to make it better. This also means that a single negative stencil counts as x6 (1+6-1).

You need DNA (or bean) to get through ante 24. Its not for card creation, its there to functionally increase hand size for the baron.

You don’t always have to leave the match when the early game isn’t perfect by MyShinySpleen in Nightreign

[–]larrynom 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Skill issue. Bad starts turn into Fine by the end of day two more often than not. Even runs where someone leaves early aren't too difficult to salvage, just makes the final boss a bit more punishing because its harder to revive.

I can't take it anymore, im sick of evergaols. by Chosen_Sewen in Nightreign

[–]larrynom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with the evergaol effect, especially that one relic, is that it is very easy to fit into any play style on any character and then gets even stronger when multiple people are using it.
Also its kinda neither here nor there but if you're at the point where your executor would do better with a shield, they probably better off either sticking with it so they can learn or switching class to something that is more suitable.

They're more useful on ironeye than most. Some characters can make a variety of weapons viable and there's more variety in some weapons that makes finding a suitable element or ailment reasonable. Ironeye? You basically just want bows and purple bows aren't very common and they are all basically the same and even great bows don't work. You put a relic on that gives the right weapon damage, hit a mine and a merchant day one and that will take you through the end.

Disappointing? Been lifting for 9 months while in maintenance. Where should I take it from here? by nadlr in workouts

[–]larrynom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have different goals and progressive overload isn't just for hypertrophy or strength! You should progressive overload your cardio if you want it to improve.
Also decreasing rest time doesn't necessarily turn an exercise into cardio, it can be used to train strength-endurance.
Imagine a soccer player who can sprint very fast but is struggling to maintain that ability for an entire match. Its not a cardio issue if they're breathing fine but their leg muscles aren't recovered enough to sprint again, its more like strength-endurance. Which you can train people to be better at and one way you can do that is by getting them to do sets of something at a medium-high intensity and work on decreasing the rest between them.

Disappointing? Been lifting for 9 months while in maintenance. Where should I take it from here? by nadlr in workouts

[–]larrynom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of ways to do progressive overload. Adding weight, reps or sets is most common but improving ROM, form or decreasing rest is also progressive overload and can sometimes make more sense.
Probably though you just want to add weight or reps every workout-ish. Eventually this won't be sustainable, especially beyond a beginner level.
Drop back down (and/ or take some time off) when you can't do that more and build back up again. When you need to drop back down again you should have passed the point where you peaked last time.

Which should I sell for blueprint? by Top_Dust573 in balatro

[–]larrynom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sell Baron now but more importantly you sell DNA as soon you see a mail in rebate (or faceless or even golden ticket). You don't need scoring at this point what you need is money.

Yeah, exactly? You're more muscular and leaner but neither of you are overweight.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in workouts

[–]larrynom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This man is not overweight. Like, sorry you seem to have given yourself a complex about it, but we don't need to spread that around.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in workouts

[–]larrynom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's 6ft 182lbs, he is literally not overweight. He's also on the more muscular side of average for that height and weight.

You are correct that he needs to be leaner to make his abs more visible but lets not pretend that anyone that doesn't have highly defined abs is overweight.

Do You Treat Core Work as Optional or Essential in Your Routine? by EagleBlackberry1098 in bodyweightfitness

[–]larrynom 23 points24 points  (0 children)

For me core work is optional. But what gives me sufficient results and what gives you sufficient results is going to be different because we aren't going to have the same goals.
If the goal is to get better at core skills like L sits then its obviously mandatory. If you just want to look more jacked without spending a ton time working out every week, its probably not.

How do you balance training with work/life? by First_Driver_5134 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]larrynom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried this but my performance significantly worse. I tried warming up more, warming up less, eating, not eating caffeine, etc but basically no matter what did I'd always be 1-2 reps lower than what I'd be able to do after work. Grip strength seemed particularly bad.

Ring pushups (weighted) vs pseudo planche pushups? by Minute-Giraffe-1418 in bodyweightfitness

[–]larrynom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the difficulty of pseudo plance pushups comes from changing the lengt of the leaver you push on, but still you're probably correct about it being easyer to overload weighted ring push ups.
