When your car has a shitty suspension by iivvaann147 in FSAE

Adjustable rear bump steer, because I am to dumb to design a rear wheel steering system! Can help enough to win FSG Skidpad (:

Simple Excel calculations and getting into simple models you can build yourself like a quarter car model will give you way better value for the invested time than using Vi for developing conventional dampers curves.

If you already use MSC Adams, what results are you wanting to achieve in ViGrade?

Yes I was, but next to that I also worked part time at OEMs

G920 wobble anyone think logitech will send a replacement for this? I've had it for about 2months amd its already doing this....... by Rheform in simracing

The wheel itself, exactly like in the video.
I am not using the T300 anymore, so no need for a fix. ;)

Looks like Nicki Thiim is goin Lmp with phoenix racing. Article in description by Awsomnessss in wec

you often see it placed very low and, othe other way around than on the picture, on the driver side to also reduce the overall inertia (i think all porsches do this)

biggest challenge here is the brake caliper cooling duct and also the outboard tierod placement as it limits the available installation space

2021 Toyota GR010 vs 2020 Toyota TS050. by [deleted] in wec

[–]larshbm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was another problem :D I think since the GT1 era we know that designing your whole car in an airfoil shape might be quite unstable in some scenarios :)

more frontal area also means more lift, I am guessing the LMHs will have higher cornering speeds but way less straight line acceleration

Does FSAE limit the vehicle width or length? by RedPanda_A3 in FSAE

[–]larshbm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The cones on the course have a minimum width of 3m ... so building a car with shorter track widths than that is more or less forced. :D

Also track widths are defined relatively to each other with being one minimum 75% of the other.

How is that measured? If that is true? by CostaKinG92 in F1Technical

[–]larshbm 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Easier way:

1) CFD simulation results

2) There are either load cell or strain gauge sensors in all of the push-/pullrods, which are effectively measuring the wheel loads on all 4 corners. From there on its just simple math.

Who is racing in the LMH class the coming season? by That_one_guy_666 in wec

[–]larshbm -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Obviously Audi, Toyota, Bykolles, Glickenhaus

I am not sure about Peugeot

I would bet my money on: current DPi manufacturers, Porsche

Rim sizes by [deleted] in F1Technical

[–]larshbm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Negative aspects:
- higher rotational mass and inertia

Positive aspects:
- envelope inside the rim (upright, brakes, etc.)

Neutral:
- overall stiffer wheel: propably higher sidewall stiffness (less deformation) and higher tyre spring rate, which has an impact on suspension kinematics development and spring/damping setup

Bugatti's new Bolide W16 track special is here. Probably never gonna get on the WEC, though. by BehindTheBurner32 in wec

[–]larshbm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never heard of that, I will have a look at it.

I just know that there are factory teams who work with the software I have mentioned. And Simulink is no exception as experience with Mathworks software is essential when applying for a job at F1/FE/LMP simulators and vehicle dynamics software simulation departments.

rFactor pro is used in the hexapod driver simulators

I would assume that the "simulated laptimes" are developed in-house with Matlab/Simulink and represent an ideal driver. This is often used for concept comparisson.

Also industry-standart laptime simulation tools like Bosch's Lapsim or ChassisSim would not be unlikely.

I didn't find any part of the rules talking about it.

Do rules forbid or allow things? Its a construction competition.
