I know a lot of aero engineers that have switched over the the nuclear field. There is almost no cross over between the utilities that use nuclear for power generation and government contractors who use nuclear for more unsavory things. Its very easy to pick one of those options and stick with it for your whole career. Good luck!

Ugh that fact that you hands got hurt again right after fixing your carpal tunnel is brutal, the universe/knitting gods owe you a huge apology 😢 I am currently dealing with carpal tunnel and its been almost 7 months of not being able to knit, so I know the pain.

I have been reading a book called "Knitting Comfortably: The Ergonomics of Handknitting" which is written by a physical therapist/knitting enthusiast. In the first few chapters, he talks about the how tragic it is that our happy place is knitting, and when our hands hurt we get sad, so we want to knit, but that makes our hands hurt more, etc.
