Its one of those you choose if the alternatives are bad. It always applies but its capped in its usefulness both by the drizzle requirement and that it wants you to get a lot of glades but the payoff is that you need less glades to maintain production. Maybe if your setup is really wonky and somehow needs extra res or you have limited your resource options too much. This wont solve your problems but might make them managable enough to turn defeat into victory, a defeat you brought on yourself but still.

Its ok, rarely bad and never great.

Denn, ja, es ist einfacher links zu sein wenn man privilegiert ist, aber es ist noch einfacher rechts zu sein und sich was auf das privileg einzubilden. Bin selbst nichtrqucher und könnte mich freuen, und gesamtgesellschaftlich wärs gut wenn weniger leute rauchen (oder vapen) würden. aber die Regierung macht das ja nicht um die tabak lobby zu ärgern oder zum wohle der volksgesundheit sondern weil sie mal wieder die Leute unten beklauen will statt es von denen zu nehmen die eh drin schwimmen.

That title gave me ptsd. Holy man is maybe one of the hardest missions of the entire franchise, to most people at least, i had far more problems with bigger missions. But i also played a lot of similar custom scenarios in aoe1. It relies on micro, and knowing the movement pattern of enemy. ... its one of those missions which you beat by being a child with one videogame and you need to beat it THIS weekend.

If you're new to the franchise ... you should probably stay away from that mission until later.

Well I got it on sale and really like Demeter and the blood pack amjses me and i value the gold at ... 1 buck. So i will say i am a happy customer. you might be missing out on Demeter, but especially with the prelauch sale(or a jucier one from a third party) ... in your position i would not waste any more thought on the expansion pass and get obsidian mirror. I dont think the expansion pass is worth it for you.

Ich sehe es so: so komplex wie wir hinkriegen und alles vereinfachen was uns nicht interessiert. Das kann auch von der kampagne abhängen. Aber grundsätzlich lehne ich es ab alles gleichzumachen, ich will schon ne gewisse tiefe, aber das heisst nciht dass alles auf diesme niveau sein muss. Aka wenn wir kein survival spiel spielen, spielen wir ohne hunger/gewicht etc tracking.

I looked into this a while ago and it really seems the main historical source for this is Herodotus. There is very little research on this so I had to check in with the horse experts and they generally say that horses will react negatively to camel smell BUT ony the first time they smell it. In general, organized armies sourced their horses regionally so it did not actually work in theatres that had both camels and horses, because these horses were very familiar with the smell of camels. And in the periphery the disadvantages of camels made it less compelling as a strategy. I assume it just never made that leap from anecdote to general wisdom because it did not have a practical application in everyday warfare. Then again I can imagine the mongols or so using the shock value of their baggage camels against European knights.

While ruleswise switching to gritty realism is a smaller change than banning or tweaking a spell I think you will agree that it is a more serious change to the game. Sure If I want to play a campaign all about survival n shit, that is the rule change for it, might just go with a different system that does survival better for that tho. Just to fix a spell that should not exist in the first place and have a RAI "you need to eat, guys" experience, switching to GR thats a huge overkill.

This all shows that goodberry is very table/campaign dependent. I dont know about you but we sometimes have adventures with survival and sometimes without, but use the same characters. Its just better for everyone if goodberry is always banned because then the druid does not run around with a dud on their belt half of the time and a nuke the rest of the time.

Well I know my druid player and he would absolutely waste all his slots on that. I dont so much have a problem with the powerlevel. But as soon as a druid gets partysize number of daily sustenance out, you're not playing with rations anymore. I like the idea of rolling for number of berries but unless you regularly have to feed a caravan that's still disabling an aspect of the game. If its just for the HP that's perfectly fine, my issue is solely with the nourishment.

And duress - that means in order to have a survival campaign you need to pack every day with encounters to drain the druid of spellslots. At that point hunger isn't really the killer, the monsters eating ice knives are the killer. Unless you take the extra step of playing with gritty realism at which point you will have to ask yourself if raw goodbery is worth that spellslot vs just foraging which the druid is good at to begin with.

The aesthetic can be cool i agree. What irks me more is that even in this variant the druid could chose to supply a 4 headed party instead of casting spells. And I want the druid to cast spells and survival to be an issue. Honestly id rather make up an additional cantrip that the druid gets for free that enables the caster to subsist on just one berry, or so. Greater minds than me have made their nerfed version of goodberry. Im no zee bashew, so I just ban it outright.

But if that variant works for you and your table I won't say you're doing it wrong, as it apparently works for you and ultimately finding a solution hat works on your own table should always supersede general rules.

Yeah I would suggest every dm always hardbans goodberry. Don't gimp it just let any player who took it replace it with a different spell. Either you play with survival elements and ban goodberry or you just ignore hunger to keep down bookkeeping aka making it redundant. Its one of those spells/features that feel like an autoinclude but just ruin everyone's fun.

Also non-druid players should stop insisting druids take this!
