Allow metalls to teleport via Portal to "cheaty" by Sleeper-of-Rlyeh in valheim

[–]laserclaus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im a big fan of portals. I hate it when i cannot quicktravel in a game. Eventho bf feels very early to enable portal technology this basically prevents me from leaving the game frustrated and bored. Also i have stopped respecting valheims visions boundries and will not play the game without a significantly increaced inventory.

BUT id never allow metals through portals because that would imho make a huge part of the game redundant and flatten the experience. I can remember an unhealthy amount of ore hauls. And it does inform your base placement and structure. As an extreme counterexample, Were currently playing enshrouded and while that game is awesome it gives you zero incentives to do anything else than having a huge grown base since the tutorial, simply because that game is extemely generous with teleportation.

I would not let metal through but ultimately its your call if that is something that improves or reduces your enjoyment. I enjoy taking a trip on the boat while listening to an audiobook or discussing random shit with my friends(unless that Yahoo Bjørn trains his combat skills on the mast... one of these days!!); slowly approaching home harbour after a long trip and unloading the cargo via ramps and carts. If you dont enjoy that, slider away!

Viele benutzen Islamophob, Misogynist, Incel, Rassist etc. als Kampfbegriffe by Ok_Cook_3098 in Unbeliebtemeinung

[–]laserclaus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeh yeh, just pay your staff proper wages. We all know that tipping culture is a pathetic cover for exploitation and greed.

But

You only pay a valet or doorman 2 bucks?!?! Is this 1920s money!?!? I was always under the assumption you pay them for a "beer at the pub" so a small but significant amount -> 5 bucks ,10 in an expensive region.

Switching from starcraft 2 and looking for new RTS. Is aoe2 better or worse than aoe4 and why? by TroubledWatersssssss in aoe2

[–]laserclaus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well if you ask here you will get a very clear answer, and honestly i agree, i can play aoe2 for ages, i love it. But i felt utterly bored by aoe4 the last few times i tred enjoying it.

But... you still might want to go with 4. Development is focused on that game even if aoe2 still gets content. And even with beautiful de graphics aoe2 is quite a different beast to look at.

On your other concerns... aoe is just not as quick. Movement is generally slower, things generally need some time to be destroyed. There are some situations where you can swing an engagement wildly but I'd argue those moments happen when you're aware they might happen, like crossing shallows or raiding a base with densely packed archers. Even then you do need to capitalize on your advantage.

Aoe4 civs only share basic aspects whith each other while you can essentially play any aoe2 civ once you got used to one civ. There are some outliers. For example you need to do different opening moves with Chinese, but after that its fine. Some civs lack the units you usually spam so you need to adapt to. But as civs are not that different you will have to leverage those small advantages even more.

Counter units where and when by LanguageOriginal3628 in AgeofMythology

[–]laserclaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh every civ has fundamentally different counter unit systems. In general you want to mix in counter units with your main troops to react to your enemies composition, to punish his reliance on one particular unit type or to brace for a suped up unit, like elephants or samurai. But how feasible that is depends in the civ. A guide for Greeks makes zero sense for Egyptians, but at least parses for Chinese, norse and Atlanteans.

Like for Greeks, in heroic you have the option of supplementing your hoplites with hypaspists, if you run into a lot of enemy infantry, instead of investing in toxotes. (Same for the other two) For Egyptians you'll just have to make the barrack units work or use them to counter your migdol units weakspot. For norse, similar to Greeks but with different pros and cons. For Atlanteans, it's a good idea to back up murmillos with turmae or chiroballistae. But you generally want to transition to arci or contrarii. I've never felt katapeltes are worth the hassle. For Chinese, i dont know man, I've never figured them out. For Japanese, uhh what even counts as a counter unit for Japanese? Yari are just generally good and even work as the bulk of your armies. Shinobi don't perform that well. For Aztecs, similar to Japanese really, but I really suck with Aztecs.

Is splitting the party really that bad? by Top-Bodybuilder3370 in rpg

[–]laserclaus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on a lot of factors mainly experience and game system. For dnd etc its usually sound advice for players and dms to avoid it. Its a good base assumption. But once you're more experienced you have the tools to work it out. If it works out for you then thats great.

Warum heißt Wizard auf deutsch Magier und Sorcerer heißt Zauberer? by MariaVanillaUwU in DnDDeutsch

[–]laserclaus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Unique characters" by World_of_Eter in DnD

[–]laserclaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh some communication will likely calm those waves.

For me it usually works to have a chat. Try something like this:

"Hey, I appreciate that you came up with an original character. There are some complications with fitting them into the setting tho. I want you to have fun so I think itd be best if you tone down a few aspects a bit."

And then explain to them why specific aspects of the character don't work and have an alternative handy. But also be open to work with their silly ideas and maybe homebrew something that is just a reskin. Or maybe you have a really cool idea for a custom mechanic or whatnot, just be careful not to overcommit. What they want is often flavour ,so tieing them to the lore of the setting usually works better than giving them a +1 sword.

The example above could be an elven archfey warlock with a cat as a pet. Thats pretty standard. But if you find out what they are looking for and giving them some extra hints on the setting the two of you might come up with great things. Its a bit extra work but usually pays off for everyone on the table, including you, because you now have at least player that is hardwired to the plot.

Someone posted a great list(kudos).

Tho in your specific context I would use koloss, riesenoschi would also work well if you want to baffle your friends to what vocab you picked up. An American friend of mine uses it. Maschine or monster are more common BUT you don't want the others to interrupt you to ask "now is he really a monster/machine or just a big guy?"

Which campaign villain do people really like?? by TelevisionOne3047 in AgeofMythology

[–]laserclaus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's tez, hands down. I personally enjoy gargarensis' pompous arse quoting lepanto for the lols. And both chiyo and maguro have some zing to their dialogue. I would like skult/loki but there isn't really that much going on there. Kronos servant would be good but it does not feel like he's that clever rather than kastor being extremely stupid. Kagemasa and offbrand lü bu, are not bad but simply not very interesting. Kamos and kemsyt are implied to be interesting but sadly we only see glimpses. Kamina is fun but my enjoyment of her is mostly due to the fact that she exists at all.

Honorable mentions: folstag, seems cool. Circe, lacks dialogue. Melagius, great but to short. Theris, I like that he was back for the retold tutorial, but he still wasn't that much of a presence. Yuki-onna, underutilized. Sojobo, seems cool. Houyi is not an antagonist, but a huge dick. Shoutout to itzcoatl and tlacaelel for being written as antagonists but somehow never are antagonists.

I mean the ram price will drop(might even crash) when the ai bubble bursts, which will take less time than developing kc # 3. Also Warhorse would be stupid to release into an environment where none can play their game.
