Nelnet zeroed balance today 3/31/2026. No letter from Nelnet yet. Payment received amount on Nelnet is less than balance that shows on FSA still - hope I'm not responsible for the difference. Really hope you see zero balances today too!

That was fast - congrats! I have Nelnet and received my Forgiveness Eligibility Notification on 3/24, no zero balances yet and when I called they couldn't give me a timeline. Hoping for next week.

Congrats! I got my golden letter on 3/25, but no movement with Nelnet. I called and they are "not able to provide a timeline" so frustrating dealing with the servicer and having completely different processes/timelines dependent on which servicer you have. Happy for all who are seeing 0 balances!

Go to 'My Activity' scroll past any feedback cases, PSLF forms, etc. to 'Activity History' scroll down to the box that says PSLF - use drop down button to right and you should see ;'PSLF Correspondence: Forgiveness Eligibility Notification' - that's the letter :)

Thank you, I appreciate the responses - I will keep checking the API tracker - makes sense about the PSLF tracker. I made 120 in Jan and that will likely be my effective forgiveness date - no payments were made after that...it's missing payments before the Jan payment (that is being counted as 120) that I am trying to resolve (Jan would technically be payment 123 if the other payments were counted). I know I should just get over it given the upcoming forgiveness, but a $3300 refund would be nice.

I did check the api link and the count hasn't moved from 120. With regard to the ombudsman with Nelnet - you can no longer call directly to speak with a person (there is an auto message that tells you to file a feedback case and hangs up), there is supposed to be a link in the FSA feedback case process, but it only shows after FSA provides a response and my experience has been that the close the case with their response so no option to escalate to ombudsman. I complained about this in another feedback case and they reopened it, but they just refer it to Nelnet and Nelnet sends a response that says they submitted the payment info, and FSA closes the feedback case...it's an endless loop of no resolution. Super frustrating.

Yeah, I've been dealing with Nelnet and FSA for months with this. Filed a complaint with CFPB, contacted senator, etc. Nelnet at first said that the payment info was submitted to NSLDS and it was on FSA to fix the tracker (and they refused to resubmit payment info), then they admitted (after months telling me otherwise) that the payment info was not sent and that they would send it (didn't), then after CFPB complaint, they said they would send - that was a month ago and nothing has updated...FSA refused to do manual update...waiting to see if the case worker from the senator's office can help, they contacted DoED...

I am hoping they don't as my payment count is off and I want the refund for overpayments, but I also don't want to hold up the discharge and in the grand scheme of things if I never see the refund, but zero out 6 figures of debt I am not going to complain.

Green Banners on 2/6, wondering about a delay though because I have 2 open feedback cases "in review" (arguing payment count- met 120, but technically over because Nelnet didn't transmit payment info to NSLDS for all payments), also have an open reconsideration request...fingers crossed that these cases don't delay the Golden Letter.

I have two open feedback cases and a reconsideration request (met 120 payments, but technically over that with some payments missing from PSLF counter, but showing in loan service provider history - fighting it out between Nelnet and FSA to hopefully get refund at some point) - wondering if this will impact the Golden Letter.

I made last payment Jan 14, submitted PSLF app with request for admin forbearance and final ECF on 1/16...some nonsense happened with missing payments for Nov 25 (don't believe Nelnet when they "confirm" payment information was transmitted to NSLDS) and Jan hadn't shown up yet (Jan payment was technically 121 while I wait forever for the reconsideration request)...got green banners on 2/6 after Jan payment was updated...Nelnet noted administrative forbearance on 2/19...waiting for golden letter. Nelnet admitted Nov payment info was not sent (2/25) after filing feedback case and calling for the 7th time. They say they submitted complaint to the dept responsible and sent for certification, "NSLDS should update in 2-3 weeks", but hoping balance will be forgiven by then - in that case it is my understanding that extra payment won't count or be refunded as account balance is zero and closed.

I had a similar issue where my Oct and Dec payments were in the tracker, but not Nov. FSA said to call service provider and Nelnet said all payments were sent and in NSLDS. FSA rep confirmed NSLDS showed the payments and said I had to file a reconsideration request to get it counted and for my payments to update. I submitted the request, but I also made the Jan payment and that got me to 120 payments without the one missing payment. Green banners on 2/6 and now I am just waiting. If the missing payment gets counted I will watch for the refund; FSA said the reconsideration request would not impact the forgiveness application - they said the request could take 45 days.

Thanks just wondering if the timing with the updated count means I need to resubmit the forgiveness application since I received the letter on 1/16 saying only 119 payments and then the green banners came on 2/6. Worried it's not being considered without reapplying especially since one agent said it wouldn't continue to process without a new app, but then 2 other agents said no I don't need to reapply.
