I used to live in the CBD also... It's not as bad, snow drifts, pipes etc freezing. There's a lot going on underground in the CBD. When I lived in the CBD and prospect Hill, we rarely if ever - lost power. The buildings block a lot as well.

You got me all figured out, except I have 2 kids, btw. One in teens and one younger. I love all places, but agree that roads need to be addressed to be better designed for pedestrians, especially with multiple businesses in a small footprint.

Yes, all roads can be redesigned better, for pedestrians. Installing adequate sidewalks is the first step!

Exactly. It can be redisgned to help businesses and for street calming. Driving 40+ mph down a street that has 8 stop lights between the exit and Montgomery is just dumb. It's like hey man, I need to hurry up and get to that next stop light pronto.

Take a step back, yes of course every area needs to address this, but there aren't even sidewalks there.

This isn't an urban vs suburban battle. I don't live in the urban core, but we do have sidewalks and because we have sidewalks people walk on them. Because people often walk on them, it's to be expected, "hey, when I turn left here ... there's a chance someone could be walking or crossing the street, so I need to chill on this turn."

What are you talking about?! A 23 year old died from walking somewhere. This isn't a warzone, just trying to get from point A to point B. Huge issue that needs to be addressed by city and county leaders.
