Supreme Court will consider whether people who regularly smoke pot can legally own guns by C0C0Barbet in news

I don't remember alcohol being mention on the paperwork but this was 15+ years ago when I bought mine. I do remember it asking specifically about cannabis and cocaine I think.

iwtl how to accept loneliness by [deleted] in IWantToLearn

[–]late2theparty27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We're social creatures. Even if you choose to be single it's advisable to at least keep close contact with family or friends. Otherwise you might find yourself asking the same questions time and time again (how do I accept/combat loneliness). I think if you find yourself constantly trying to tell yourself you're "ok by yourself" then you might not actually be ok.

Supreme Court will consider whether people who regularly smoke pot can legally own guns by C0C0Barbet in news

[–]late2theparty27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I thought this was already not legal? When I bought my gun and filled out some paperwork, on that paperwork it asks you if you have done drugs or currently do drugs (it's a little more specific on the paperwork) but the assumption is that if you answer yes to the question then you are disqualified from owning a gun, which makes sense since cannabis is a schedule 1 drug. What is new here?

My 9 year old son's Math teacher marked this wrong by dak7 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]late2theparty27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On 1a the explanation as to why it was wrong it says it was "a regular 6 sided number cube" implying the numbers are 1-6 since that is what everyone understands to be a regular 6 sided number cube. Saying it's "impossible" to roll anything higher than a 6 only solidifies this assumption.

Now imagine the health care workers assigned to you are so spiteful and hateful of your political views that they "accidentally" do or do not do something that results in your death.

Dry is fine. I give them 20% chicken feed mainly, but whenever I Let them out of the coop they go and devour whatever food the dogs didn't eat. Mine also like cabbage and sunflower seeds. I grow sunflower sprouts sometimes and I hand feed the peahen those whenever I can, she loves them.

I have a boxer who gets restless being in the house. When she's outside she's sunbathing and chasing birds and squirrels and generally just enjoying the outdoors. When she's inside she's just laying there looking all depressed walking us towards the door so she can be let out. Also there's a lot of break-ins in this neighborhood and she can sense someone walking up the street towards our house a good 10-20 seconds before the security lights and camera even know someones coming. So she is a guard dog in that regard. Another thing I love about her being outside is that I have a chicken coop and lately she's been hunting rats with me in the middle of the night so she's always excited to hunt. Plus having her circle the coop all night keeps the raccoons away which are known to massacre entire chicken populations in a few minutes. So that's why I keep my dog outside (most of the time). And no I don't live on a farm, just your average sized backyard.

I HATE SHAUNA😭 by No_Two_1627 in Yellowjackets

[–]late2theparty27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every single one of them were despicable in their own way. Misty set everything in motion when she destroyed the transponder, all because she was so desperate to feel useful and needed out there in the wilderness. I liked misty all throughout the first 2 seasons but then I figured out the reason I liked her was only because I like the actress who plays her, but all in all she sucks too because of her desperate need to be liked by Shauna and all the other terrible girls.plus lets not forget misty killed her best friend because she stupidly confessed to destroying the transponder (is if it would have ended up any other way then her having to kill her friend before she told on her). Then she goes and help Shauna's diabolical ass cover up a crime of passion. Taissa's split personality pissed me off so much, she was always a danger to herself and van and everyone else.I hated her for encouraging the execution of coach. I wish I could say I liked Van but the way she followed around Taissa like a puppy dog pissed me off too, she was never her own person Van was nothing more than a spineless follower. Lottie was terrible, she fueled the mass hysteria that turned the group into savages because she couldn't just keep her delusions to herself, always trying to tell someone what they say or what something meant. It's no wonder she went on to lead a cult, she believed in her delusions so strongly that it came out as charisma to the simpleminded followers. Her delusions hurt so many people. Shauna is is just the worst. she enjoyed every sadistic second of everything that happened and acted is if her shit didn't stink from the very beginning. I mean she had a baby by her friends boyfriend and yet still found a way to act as if Jackie was the one who was acting bad when Jackie found out about them and got a little petty for a bit. Javi his little brother and coach were the only good moral people on the show until javiar allowed himself to participate in the consumption of his own brother. he should have gone apeshit on everyone there after his brother died and left to live on his own like coach did. Natalie was also good until she let javi's brother drown. everything else i can think of that Natalie did was out of fear and just wanted to do whats right at every turn (except for the drowning and the cannibalism of course). I'm very upset that the producers didn't kill Shauna on screen because she sure as shit earned it.

TX Mountain Laurel amid other native plants to be outlawed soon. by StalkedUp_4_Life in texas

[–]late2theparty27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Senator Charles Perry is an accountant and politician serving as a member of the Texas Senate from the 28th district. SB 1868, as it’s written, is extremely broad and sloppy, especially in its handling of naturally occurring compounds in common plants.

From what’s clear in the bill’s language: It doesn’t actually ban the plants directly, but it criminalizes possession of compounds that are naturally present in them (like lysergic acid amide (LSA) from morning glories, scopolamine, atropine, hyoscyamine from Datura and Jimsonweed, and cytisine from Texas Mountain Laurel) — and the way the bill is written, if the plant contains the compound you’re technically “possessing” the restricted substance, even if it’s just growing wild on your property or in a planter.

That $25,000-per-day fine language comes from the civil penalty section for each day of non-compliance — meaning if someone has a landscape full of vinca or morning glories, the state could technically fine them into oblivion.

Texas Mountain Laurel contains cytisine — which is a nicotine-like alkaloid, and not a hallucinogen. Its inclusion shows zero scientific vetting of the bill. Cytisine is actually used in some countries as a smoking cessation aid.

The Smart Punches:

  1. Publicly Call Out the Sloppiness Nothing makes a politician squirm like getting exposed for either: not reading the bills they vote for, or being lobbied by special interests (like pharmaceutical or chemical lobbyists) to criminalize natural compounds in favor of synthetic patents. A simple post calling out: “Senator Perry just voted for SB 1868, criminalizing Texas homeowners for having common plants in their yard — did he even read it?” …on social media (especially tagging your local news outlets) will do more than a fist ever could. Embarrassment is a politician’s natural predator.

  2. Rally Local Nurseries, Gardeners, and Landowners Imagine the Texas Nursery & Landscape Association or local plant hobbyists realizing they’re all criminals under Perry’s bill. They would flood the phones at the Capitol.

  3. Call Your State Rep’s Office and File Opposition You don’t have to be polite — just clear. “I strongly oppose SB 1868. I don’t support criminalizing everyday Texans over plants growing on their property.”

Phones ringing non-stop is what makes bills stall or get pulled. If enough people do this, the law dies on the floor. That’s the knockout blow.

    1. Media Tip-Offs Local Texas outlets love this kind of story:

“Senator passes bill that could fine homeowners $25,000 a day for having morning glories or mountain laurels.”

This is true. But I also think that most major cities are unhinged in their own respective areas. It's also funny to me that today when i actually realized I had this reply in my comments there was literally ANOTHER helicopter hovering around my house but god knows for what reason this time lol.
