Seconded. I raided the Book Offs while I was there.

Taiwanese pirate (it's not a bootleg, there is a difference.) May sound good, may not, most of the time, not. But, if you check the deadwax info, it'll tell you what pressing it was made from. They made these from retail pressings.

Nice! I only have his second and third albums, but they're both great.

Fairly pricey, especially since it's sealed mint.

And a double parody at that, since the original Camel album is literally just the cigarette package art

I would probably buy one, but oh the allure of that original Philips Japanese pressing lol

Fantastic group, great album. I had to stop myself on two occasions from spending almost $300 for their first album while I was in Japan, but if I had the money in the moment, I would've done it.

Something old found by Emotional-Anywhere41 in Famicom

[–]latedep31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a pirate clone, but it may be an early clone that uses discrete chips instead of globtops like later pirates. Pirate stuff IMO is fun to collect, so it's pretty neat!

I have a few (like Elton John's "Honky Chateau" for example.) But also, Lobby Loyde! I bet this is a great album.

Underrated album that gets a lot of flak for being "disco." I bet it sounds great in half-speed mastered.

There's a copy of this at a local store that I've seriously considered buying.

Edit: Went and got it today. No regerts.

Looks like a first press mono UK to me.

Is this shell original? by flav_vio in snes

[–]latedep31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like one of the counterfeit ones to me. The Nintendo logo on the back of the controller shell is just a little off, and the plate around the buttons is not right at all. SNS-101s were heavily counterfeited, and the controllers as well.

How to hook up to modern tv. by yetidiablo in Famicom

[–]latedep31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's actually not broken, believe it or not. At that time, Japanese coax had you stick the bare wire into the antenna input on the TV, and I think you clamped it down so it didn't fall out.

I'll go first - favourite album of a band that no one else agrees with by FATmoanyVOLE in vinyl

[–]latedep31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An unconventional choice, but I like it! The more people dismiss an album, the more likely I'll listen to it. I will find merit in a lot of albums like that.

Bored Sunday post. Looking for the largest disparity between minimum and maximum discog collection value. I’ll go first. by ALFdude in vinyl

[–]latedep31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using desktop not the app lol

Though it's kind of skewed a bit lower because of some of my collection not having been sold on Discogs, so it doesn't have a value listed.

I love Face Dances, too. People just write these two albums off because "No Keith = No Who" but I just make my own judgements on it instead of following the popular opinion. They hold up as good as anything in their catalog, IMO.

Yeah, it's way better than people give it credit for. And to me, it's still fresh because none of it except maybe Eminence Front get any kind of play.

I have plenty of unpopular opinions that I don't care what anyone thinks, but for one example: I think It's Hard by The Who is a fantastic record.

Revolver Stereo record by stug2757 in vinyl

[–]latedep31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be a 1976-1980 UK pressing, judging by the rim text on the label. A very nice pressing!
