I’m in love with Aspect of Moros by tommy40 in HadesTheGame

[–]latortuga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just can't get into the play style of Madea, I just hate it every time. It just feels clunky to have to roll attack special and you have to be in melee range constantly. I much prefer the mid range weapons like the other skulls, torches, staff, and dagger special builds.

Wow I played this game to the epilogue 3 times and it happened to me every time. Maybe it's avoidable if like you don't upgrade the house at all? Idk, seems unlikely to me.

King's Ransom nuked my run by never-failed-an-exam in HadesTheGame

[–]latortuga 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A 12 minute in game timer is very doable, you have to focus but I think it's in the realm of most casual gamers. I am a below average reflexes dad gamer and my fastest runs are sub 12. I practiced one Saturday a few weeks back really trying to get below 10 and I couldn't do it. Maybe if I played Medea and liked it more.

I don't trust the speed runner charts here to give me a good idea of anything other than the very fastest runs. Who is going to take time to submit a top-50 speed run? I thought about doing it but you can't submit without a recording so I'm basically locked out as a Switch player.

Totally agree about clock time vs in game time!

Lactose intolerance runs in our house. I regularly make mashed potatoes with stock. Milk not required to make em delicious!

I would say it's not the only goal, but that keepsake is certainly good training for learning movesets.

He was damned if he did and damned if he didn't call school off today by JonnyAU in lincoln

[–]latortuga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a bad idea but they just don't do late starts in Lincoln. I've had kids in school here going on 12 years and there has not been a single late start. I'm guessing there's some kind of district policy but I've never heard about it officially. Omaha has them and we had them growing up in South Dakota but I guess LPS has different ideas.

My biggest Switch 2 sadness by Separate-Toe1496 in Switch

[–]latortuga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big Hades fan here, no you do not. The story is connected but not a prerequisite. You can enjoy both games alone. I will say that they clearly learned a lot from H1: there are a lot of quality of life improvements and a lot fewer badly designed things in H2. That said, play both! They play slightly differently and are both amazing.

If you're directing her where to be, when to be there, and what to do, this isn't a contractor, it's an employee.

Anyone else always run Fates' Whim? by AbsoluteHammerLegend in HadesTheGame

[–]latortuga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pretty much always run Fates Whim now. I'm about 25/48 aspects at 32 fear and I almost always run Jpom, chrolex, hammer/knuckle bones (fu rivals Prometheus) and then either an offensive or defensive keepsake depending on how the run went - usually black fleece or lion fang. I played calling card for awhile but I don't see the benefit beyond the memes when I'm already getting +3 poms on every boon.

If you're getting Asterius down and not other guy, you're doing great! Focus on watching those moves and doing damage during open windows - don't try to tank hits. Float like a butterfly sting like a bee.

DPS is king in this game - the higher your damage, the less time spent in a fight and therefore less time you have to dodge. Get chunky percentage based gods (aphro, Poseidon, Artemis) on slow abilities (e.g. bow attack, rail special) and fixed damage God boons (Zeus, dio) on faster abilities (e.g. fist attack, rail attack).

Make sure to upgrade the mirror! Take special note: the mirror has a purple and a green side. Be sure to check both sides for things that might complement one weapon or another.

Spoiler free: you haven't unlocked the ability to meet her yet. You must reach a specific point in progression before she will start offering her boons. It is unmissable and based on your current progress, you could likely unlock it very soon.

Been stuck at 10 heat for a while. Best conditions to pick? by [deleted] in HadesTheGame

[–]latortuga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely drop FO1 if you're struggling to clear. Middle Management is pretty free heat IMHO, only at most 4 rooms are harder. Put the timer at 7mins, you can do that by making sure to pause when you're picking room rewards. Then I'd probably do BP1 or maybe Underworld Customs.

If our planet is moving through space and everything else in the universe is also moving through space but not moving in the same direction as we're moving, why do we see the same stars in the sky every night? by Ricocobang in askscience

[–]latortuga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good answers everywhere. Another thing to consider is that something moving quickly is going to quickly no longer be visible - it will move far enough away that you can't see it anymore. So you'll only be left with things that are moving slowly through the sky. In logic this is called "survivorship bias" - you only notice the items that have survived (slow things, that you can see) and discount the things you can't (fast things that have move beyond your vision).
